My 4:44 pm response on 3-25-23 stated just that and that "Johnny Angel" was #1.

4/7/62 shouldn't be a long countdown since the songs back then were rather brief.

Show ended at 4:16 with "Johnny Angel" at #1. Next week is 1968. Most likely 4-13-68, which is 5 days ahead of the survey date of 4-8-23. Number 1 was "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro. I was a big fan of Dick Bartley's American Gold/Classic Countdown, and Dick Clark's Rock Roll and Remember. In all the years I listened to those shows, neither host would play "Honey" in their countdown of April 1968.

"Honey" isn't exactly an upbeat song-I can see why Dick Clark & Dick Bartley took a pass on it.

"Honey" didn't qualify apparently as rock.

Longer show this week, ending right at 4:30 EST. Next week is 1961. The surveys then were on Mondays, so I am thinking likely the date will be 4-17-61. I would turn 9 two days later. "Blue Moon" by the Marcels was #1 that week back in 1961.
