...The first week "You Showed Me" is off the Top 40 is 3-29-69, likely date of the show. Dang it, Lou Simon is going with that chart yet again, for about the fifth time since the Survey made its debut. He personally appointed me to be the one to remind him not to use it, and I totally forgot! So if the order of the songs looks or sounds familiar, you folks can blame me.

You must have reminded him last year via Lou Simon, because he didn't do 1969 in March last year, but did in 2021. I am taking it that previous shows would have been when Ken Merson, and maybe even Lou Simon hosted the show?

I remember when "Whipped Cream" was played as background music on "The Dating Game" with Jim Lange.

I'm listening to the survey now, and, yes, the above week is being played for the fifth time. I was really clinging to the pie-in-the-sky hope that 3-22-69 would be played and, with it, mark the end to the infamous Turtles boycott. (After all, that countdown date would have fit perfectly, whereas 3-29-69 is a week ahead.) I hope that Dave Hoeffel at least chooses different staff pick songs, like "Goodbye, Columbus", "Johnny One Time" (Brenda Lee), or "Move In A Little Closer, Baby" (Mama Cass). I'll soon find out.

Next week’s show will be a special: the top 50 hits of the 1960s by women. Maybe this ties into Women’s History Month, as February was Black History Month and they did a top 50 Soul/R&B special.
