EDIT PER WEDNESDAY ENCORE: You'll notice a slight error at the #25 spot. Gale Garnett was in fact born in New Zealand and raised in Canada. Also thanks Doofus for the countdown. Wow the Supremes were certainly supreme (pardon the pun)--three of the Top 5 American songs for the year! This was a very interesting concept to exclude the British artists. I do hope Dave does get back to the weekly countdown, because so far this year 1969 has not been played, and I sure love the music from that year.

I am listening right now and sure will again Wednesday night! Trivia: a record is broken on this show that will remain until the Fall of 1972--the song that drops the most from the Hot 100 is Tommy James and the Shondells "Crimson and Clover." It dropped out of this weeks Hot 100 from #18, and the record would be "Nights In White Satin" in 1972, when it vacated the Hot 100 from position #17. I think this record still holds after 46 years.

I loved Dave's take on "Indian Giver" showing how politically incorrect the song would be in today's times. As a teenager listening to WABC, the song was banned from that station as well as "Snatching It Back."

Please know that I do really enjoy Dave's Countdown, but why two countdowns from 1960 and 1964 in 2019 when 1961, 1962 and 1966 have not been featured?

I am enjoying the 60's Countdown from 1968, but it's a little bit in the future--4-13-68 to be exact. I see Dave uses the same website I do--Ultimate Music Database. I can tell this because he stated "If You Can Wait" for "If You Can Want." Not to complain, but 1960, 1964 and 1968 have been done twice this year, but still no 1961, 1962 or 1966.

Lou Simon has said that he chooses chart dates based on the actual window of time that the chart covers, making the selection of songs a little more timely. In this case, for the chart of 4/13/68, all of the sales and airplay data would have been collected by Billboard from roughly 3/28 to roughly 4/3.

I didn't catch Dave's error. But I'd like to think that his studio in New Jersey would be equipped with a copy of Joel Whitburn's Hot 100 charts book for the 60s, and that saying "wait" instead of "want" was just a human slip. Perhaps Lou could fill us in on what their actual source is. Watch this space.

Last week, Dave goofed by referring to "Puppy Love" as "Paul Anka's last #1 until 1974." Nope. It stalled at #2, behind Percy Faith's monster record. One mistake a week still puts Dave miles ahead of the VJ's.

I think I know about a couple of those years that keep getting passed over. My understanding is that the Shirelles were one of the acts that SiriusXM shies away from playing after they filed legal action for back royalties. The bulk of their hits came in that '61-'62 period. And of course, no countdown is complete without all of the top 40 songs.

Anyhow, today's song list will happen soon -- by the end of the night, I'm hoping.
