Listening to the 3-9-74 show and Casey sounds the same as he did in the 80's.

It's the most recent AT40 I will ever hear for today's date....from 2003. Casey's last year with AT40 except he is not doing this show. Pat O'Brian is. Yep, as Paul indicated, Casey likes to take weeks off in mid-March. BTW, a regular poster here seems to have disappeared. Been over a month since woolebull logged in.

[ . . . ] Now, not knowing who David Hall was I went on a search engine to see if I could find any info out about him. Nothing stood out to me saying THIS IS THE GUY and I don't remember him giving any info about himself on the show. It's possible he did and I just wasn't paying any attention when he did. Anyone have any info or is this him? www.examiner.com/article/r-i-p-david-hall-1954-2012This intrigued me enough to go nosing around online myself -- I assume we both came across the same multiplicity of David Halls who had some affiliation with radio (or who are mobile DJs); I, too, could not definitively link any of them to American Top 40 or to Shadoe, but just in case you missed it or glossed over it, I thought I'd call attention to actor Robert David Hall, who seems to have worked under the name "David Hall" as a "daytime announcer" at a "high-profile" Los Angeles radio in the early 1980's, and who'd had a few recurring guest roles on television series as of 1994. My thinking is that this is relevant because a fair number of AT40's guest-hosts hailed from California radio, and many of Shadoe's later guest hosts were primarily television actors!... (I also can't resist pointing out the similarity between the names of Dave Hull, Casey's first guest host, and David Hall, one of Shadoe's last guest hosts... )

Decided on 3-21-81. Did they shorten Leader Of The Pack in hour one? The second verse seemed quick. I've never heard a #1 archive song shortened, at least not less than the 45 version. Certainly not a less than 3 minute song!

Did 3-17-79 yesterday, not too sure about today yet. It's 3/17/79 for me today, though I only have the three-hour edition. Absolutely unbelievable countdown. Very few songs I fast-forwarded past.

Listened to AT40 3/19/94 and AT20 HAC 3/13/04 today. Now done for the week. Listening to SXM NHL radio. Rest of the week at work: local sports radio and NCAA Basketball Tournament coverage.

Listened to a Rick Dees show from 6/6/92 today. What was utterly strange is that there were at least three stories/updates devoted to Madonna, despite the fact that she had no charting songs that week. What, they couldn't have waited a month until "This Used To Be My Playground" debuted?

I think Rick's show is a far cry from Casey's... Not very well done!

Decided on 3-20-76 for today. A week after my birth show (3-13-76, was born on the 10th but that chart reflects what was popular the week before)
Enjoying it as usual, Casey is always amazing!

I think Rick's show is a far cry from Casey's... Not very well done! I concur. I've listened to several of his shows lately, and there were numerous errors regarding chart positions. Horrible editing. And he just isn't that good of a countdown host. Plus, being almost 30 years older, his schtick isn't quite as funny. On topic, today is a double-dose of 1992: 3/14 and 3/28. Double-dose.

As a warm-up for today's 3/23/85 show on WWIS, I'm listening to the 3/16/85 countdown. I'm up to the biggest mover in the Top 40, "One More Night" by Phil Collins, moving to number five from 14. It's one of four songs to jump into the week's Top 10, which hadn't happened in over a year, as Casey would point out.
