Jumping ahead, tomorrow will feature February 26, 1978. Great countdown. Can't wait to hear it. I have a bunch of those songs on vinyl, too.

If he means 2/25/78, I'm listening to it right now. Going to pass on 3/4/78 this weekend because I already heard it a couple years ago. Instead it's the week before which I have not heard since.....well, since 2/25/78 to be exact!

I listened to 2-26-72 Monday, 2-26-83 yesterday and today I'm headed back to 2-27-71. Tomorrow I plan on 2-27-88 and 2-28-81 on Friday but not Casey, it'll be American Country Countdown!

12/15/1984 right now. This afternoon I'll probably jump ahead 5 weeks to 1/19/1985.

Listening to 2/26/2000 and how strange is it that Destiny's Child's song sounds more like Jennifer Lopez's "If You Had My Love" than J-Lo's own hit a couple songs earlier, "Feelin So Good"? DC's song is "Say My Name". IYHML was J-Lo's big hit from just a few months earlier in case anyone forgot.

Started my day with 2-21-81 and moved on to the 80's Newcomers Special.
Laughed when Casey mentioned the members of U2. After groaning, having to hear them!

Today's show is from this date back in 1988. This is the fourth of five weeks in a row I have from 1988, 2/13 through 3/12.
Casey sings (or what passes for his singing) part of "The Flintstones" theme song in his intro story for Pebbles' "Girlfriend". Classic, indeed.

^Interesting. There are AT40s for this date in 1977, 1983, 1988 and 1994. That 1988 show is the only one I won't be hearing today. That's because I heard it in the last couple years. In the top 10 of the 1977 show at the moment. Counting down to a new #1 as Casey has said a few times.
And I'll be going back thru this top 10 to edit in longer songs for "Year of teh Cat", "Night Moves" and "Blinded by the Light". Of course they always played the 45 versions of the last 2. It's the first one that got the hair on the back of my neck to rise. Played a minute and a half of YOTC undoubtedly so they could play an extra a couple songs later. Rolls his eyes!!
That reminds me. In the AT40 what if's thread, we have been discussing various things of this nature. If they had gone to 4 hours by 1977, instead of doing last week's top 3 to fill time, they could have done a flashback a la the Shadoe years. Except they could have played the whole top 3 instead of just clips like he did.

^Okay, you got me started on something. I absolutely HATED "extras" and "LDDs". H-A-T-E-D them, because they took time away from actual countdown songs in the survey. I was a stickler for that then, and I certainly am now. I fast-forward through a great majority of extras and LDDs when I replay a classic AT40 show. Your "Year of the Cat" example is a great one.

If you didn't like the non-countdown songs in the broadcast then, you must really like AT40 now.

^The only time I ever listen to AT40 with Seacrest is when I'm in the car on Sunday mornings, and I don't have my iTouch with me.
Which is to say, hardly ever.

Listened to 12-11-81 today. Just felt like it. Deciding between a March show and a year end tomorrow.
When I did Sept 1978 the other day, I got mad at hearing so many faded early, then the WHOLE d**n SONG for a LDD.
When I do my countdowns, I only do extras if there's time. If I have 2 extra minutes, I'll do a few early fades or 45 versions to get an extra minute to play the extra in full instead of a long theme out at the end of the hour. I generally don't mind LDD's, but other extras are BS when it shortens other tunes!
