Just finished AT40 from 12/6/1980, the last show when John Lennon was alive. ☹
Catching this week's Country Top 40 with Fitz currently. Not much movement so far, only two songs swapped places at 34 and 33, otherwise everything from 40 to 32 held their place from last week. Can't believe BK has been gone over a year already.

Catching Joe's latest, 3/14/1981. Also looking forward to my AT40 marathon next year through 1981. Just have 3 more shows each of 1980 (and CT40 1992) to listen to.

Just finished up with: September 15, 2001. In addition to being the show that was unable to be heard in quite a few places in the wake of 9/11, it's also a show that contains two chart feats. One, is fairly well-known, as Michael Jackson debuted with "You Rock My World" the same week that Alien Ant Farm's cover of his "Smooth Criminal" did. (There would also be a story of how Christina Milian drew inspiration from MJ's Moonwalker video - and wore out the tape in the process - for good measure.) The other, is less obvious. I finally found it, a show with just the #1 song sitting at its peak position on a given week! Really surprised it turned out to be this one. And since they'd been back to using the chart printed in R&R for a month, this can't be blamed on the unknown chart, either. What's also crazy, is just how much everything lined up perfectly for it to happen. The previous week, these songs were all peaking below #1: "The Space Between", #21 "I'm a Believer", #17 "Peaches & Cream", #15 "It's Been Awhile", #4 "Someone to Call My Lover", #3 And the following week, these songs would peak below #1: "Me, Myself, and I", #40 (also its only week) "Sweet Baby", #38 (also its only week) "I'll Fly With You (L'amour Toujours)", #34 "Sandstorm", #33 "Crush", #32 "Bad Day", #29 (second non-consecutive week there) "Because I Got High", #23 "Peaches & Cream", #15 (yes, this went 15-15-16-15 - apparently there was dumb luck in play for the September 15 countdown, too) "Start the Commotion", #11 Lastly, this also extended to the entire R&R chart as well - next week, "Love This Way" by Eden's Crush would stop at #43, "Fat Lip" by Sum41 would stop at #46, and "Never Too Far" by Mariah Carey would stop at #47. None of those were there this week, and Uncle Kracker's "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" stopped at #48 the week before. ETA: Ended up following this up with July 24, 1993...and nearly found two in a row! But actually that hope was dashed early, as Whitney Houston's "Run to You" stops at #32 that week.

Almost done with AT40's last regular show of 1980, which is 12/20. No archive songs that week; they played three Christmas songs in their place, all timeless classics.
On deck: CT40 from 12/26/1992, which is Part 2 of the top 100 hits of the year. Looking forward to 1981 and 1993 next year.

June 20, 1992. And... Hour 2 reading of droppers also happened a few times during the Shadoe Stevens era, but in his case those instances tended to be just for no apparent reason at all. (One example that takes the cake: 2/2/91 - he reads them leading into #22! There were no debuts outside of Hour 1 that week...) He does it again here, in the exact same place! Oy!

I just noticed that Casey played six hits (or at least portions of six different hits) before he even began the countdown at #40 on one show.
I'm sure someone here knows the show to which I am referring. Unless this happened more than once?

Actually listening to WDRV-FM Chicago, classic rock station. Started Christmas Eve at 6 AM playing their entire library alphabetically by title. They do it every year at this time; it's called the "Drive A To Z" (usually "Abacab" to "Ziggy Stardust"). Goes from 6 AM to midnight every day. Features over 2,000 songs and runs a few days into the new year. Listen LiveDrive A To Z

The Christmas special aired this past weekend on the 60s Satellite Survey, Christmas Hits Through The Years.
On deck: Bob Kingsley's Christmas In America, from 1998. (Hoping to acquire more of these; this is the only one I have.)

WDRV is a fantastic station. I stream them quite a bit. Larger than normal music library even during regular playlists, great local jocks, and a great locally produced long running show on Sunday morning and evening called "Rock and Roll Roots". And they also run my favorite non-Casey weekend syndicated show, Time Warp with Bill St James, on Saturday morning.

AT40's top 50 of the 1970's.
Not only do I enjoy listening to year-ends around this time of year (and indeed I have already listened to 1971, 1974 and 1984 this season), but I also enjoy hearing the decade-end shows.
