One thing I didn't mention for 1999 was that "So Alive" made for a nice surprise pick for the final included America's Top Hit.
And while Love & Rockets may not have wanted the success that came with having a hit record, not only did it go all the way to #3 on the Hot 100 (#5 on R&R), but Billboard also named "So Alive" the top Modern Rock hit of 1989! (I checked R&R, and it appears they didn't publish a year-end ranking for that format [called New Rock in their magazine] as yet - just an AOR ranking.)

A couple of specials that won't be heard on the two Premiere series...
It's the 7/2/1977 special on right now at work, the Top 40 Girls Of The Rock Era. Got the Book Of Records special from 7/5/1980 playing in the car.

So nice to hear the unedited version of the Top 100 of 1978 on iHeart. Hearing the truncated version always makes me ill.

Listening to 7-4-70 on KLFM. Nothing like listening to 7-4-70 with KLFM's jingles that sound like 1970.

WPNC is playing the final Casey AT40 from 2004. Neat to hear a medley of renditions of “The First Cut Is the Deepest” and songs like Kelly Clarkson’s “The Trouble With Love Is,” that I haven’t heard in a while. His timing was good, though, as Eamon’s one hit was moving up. That was probably a good sign it was time to sign off.

True, but they wouldn't under any other circumstance. This morning, the two 7/3 shows from the early era...in hour 2 of 1971, then the 1976 special. Love hearing the "Double Dozen" commercials. 🙂

American Top 40 from July 9, 1977-Loved the story about the recall of Alice Cooper's "School's Out" album with flammable panties.

Going with 6/23/84 since Premiere keeps avoiding it and it's been a while since I've listened to an '84 show. I have the 2009 version -- one of my only recordings with Mike Kasem as the emcee.

Got the debut show back-to-back, 7/4/1970 and 7/5/1975. Working through the first calendar week of July with all the specials. 7/6/1974 is next, followed by 7/7/1973. Love these early 70s shows. Hopefully by this time next year I've heard them all. 🙂
Got 7/12/1980 playing in the car. Heard the story of the Manhattans' original lead singer who chose his replacement shortly before he died.

Interesting--Premiere's previous airings of this show has a number of split logos (and maybe some other things) cut out of it, and a few wacky edits to songs. I'm guessing that's not what's causing them to avoid re-airing it, but they sure got much better at editing songs and parts of the show after those first few years.

That's one thing I noticed about 1984 shows when I was listening to the Premiere airings, especially those that originally aired in those first few years of the series. I hardly noticed that with any other year; unsure why 1984 seemed to be a bigger target with that. I didn't like how things "flowed" when listening to those, as to me it just sounded strange.
