Just finished with 6/23/73, which took little time at all, considering how few songs I actually like from back then (c'mon, really - "Playground in My Mind" by Clint Holmes was a number two hit?). Before that was 6/21/86. Now THAT took a while to get through.

Interesting how some of us listen to shows in full and others will skip some or even most of the musical selections. When I commit to listening to a show "in full" I will listen to each and every song, regardless on my feelings toward. Sometimes it will take me a few days to get through the show if I am just listening to bits and pieces as I am in the car or doing other things, other times I will sit down with a show and listen start to finish.
That said, I am currently waiting to hear about a job I applied for up north in one of my former hometowns. So I have AT20 8/11/07 on as that was the time. I lived there before and brings back great memories of a place I hope to be able to call home again soon.
Which then motivates the question, why do we choose what show to listen to at any given period

I do the above with one exception, dedications. The 90s forward there's a good chance I'm skipping them. Whereas the 70s and 80s I usually just talk over it saying "who cares? Why did you bother us with information about your life back then this isn't our problem! You are probably divorced now making this totally irrelevant anyway!"

Thats because from the mid 90s forward they were all the same! Teenage love and convicts wanting to hear Celine Dion, LeeAnn Rimes and Bette Midler

The Top 50 of 1985. Brings back memories of hearing this the first time when I was a kid.

Finishing David Perry hosted CT40 6/23/94, then AT40 6/23/94, AT20 6/19/04, and then it'll be back to the tribute playlist starting with AT20 3/26/05 (Son was born 3/25)
^ this should get me through work today.

For all my complaining about 80 and 81, apparently this era of musical suck started before that. This show from 10/7/78 is just as bad as some from those years I've heard. If I never hear this show again, it's ok.

This morning I finished CT40 3/28/92
Now listening to CT40 6/3/95 Then: AT40 7/22/00, 7/5/86 - Giants of Rock n Roll 8/21/82
This is great news for me. It means I am on course to finish this tribute tomorrow and can get back to only listening to the shows from 40,30,20, and 10 years ago along with sports talk radio.

If I never hear this show again, it's ok. And that week AT40 generously started giving us four hours of that each week. (Though the extra time was filled mostly by extras at first.) Looking back on that show, it has its moments, with some songs I really like, but I can somewhat see where you're coming from even if I wouldn't quite call it "musical suck". A lot of boring AC ballads and bland, standard-issue AOR, with some mostly too-similar sounding disco tracks to keep things "moving".
