Hits 100 started at 4PM today... however, their automation system started going funky at the end of the third hour (songs/segments ending early, some partially repeating). The same thing happened last night on Hits 100's replay of the 1983 show: Towards (and cutting off) the end of 'Uptown Girl', it looped back to the beginning of the beginning of that segment, replaying 'Burning Down the House' and the first minute of 'Suddenly Last Summer'. They then cut directly to the Hour 3 Extra, 'Break My Stride', which was played without error. After a commercial block, they go into the beginning of hour 4, but at the start of 'King of Pain', it loops back to the beginning of that segment and replays 'Telefone' and then the first few seconds of 'Delerious'. Mid-'Delerious', it goes to the next segment and Air Supply at #6.... Of which, they only play half of that song and then go to a commercial block, missing the end of 'Making Love Out of Nothing At All' AND the LDD that followed. It goes right to the segment beginning with 'One Thing Leads To Another'... a song which is only half-played before it goes to another commerial break. So #'s 4 and 3 aren't played at all. 4th Hour extra (Madonna) and the final segment are played without incident. Lesson learned being: if Hits 100 screws up the 80's show on Sunday, they're likely to simply play the same mistake over on Wednesday night instead of fixing the errors.

OK, so not sure if this is a permanent change (or if the plan is to mix 70s and 80s), but it sounds like KLOU (Oldies 103.3) in St. Louis might have switched to the 80's show. They aired 10/29/83 this weekend, and played all four hours. Not sure if and how many of the OE's they would have played... Well this week their back to playing the 70s show.

Very sad....some stations have already switched over to the Christmas format....so darn soon. Whyyyyy? Because it generates the most income than at any other time of the year for the stations that run it and the soccer moms love it.
