Toward the end of the 1985 show the "#2" ad was followed by the Progressive ad featuring a plugged toilet. How appropriate!

What is with all these TMI ads? You either can't get it up, can't go to the bathroom or doing god knows what in the shower and then having your mom walk in on you. There was an ad for Erectile Dysfunction, that "Katie in the shower" ad (ew), that gross "my number 2 doesn't look like number 2" and just when you thought those Progressive ads couldn't get any more annoying with "Flo" they topped themselves with that clogged toilet ad. I don't need to know what your number two looks like, what you're doing in the shower and I really don't need to know about your sexual performance problems, thanks.

A lot of the Premier commercial blocks begin with some inane knocking on a door. As soon as I hear that stupid knock, I turn down the volume for about 5 minutes. As a result, I am not as familiar with Katie, Flo, or Exhibit #2 as I otherwise would be. I had a few angry journal entries from 2013-14 that lambasted my least favorite Premier ads of the time. Any ad that begins with the ringing of a phone tends to be truly obnoxious.

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on your radio, "Floetry" is back. Kill me now. I never found Flo or Floetry funny and I want to meet the person who does find her funny...anyone? That's what I thought.

That's what I thought. At least they put away "The #2" ad, well at least for a week anyway! I never thought I would say this, but I would rather hear Spotify ads than Premier's ads as of late. I wonder, whatever happened to those Motel 6 ads from way back when?

I wonder, whatever happened to those Motel 6 ads from way back when? A bit of irony struck me today as I was listening to the 3-19-83 show this morning on KOLA. In either the first or second hour, I did hear a local Motel 6 ad. I guess it made up for my KOLA action figure than ran 6 minutes over due to commercials. I could not quite get to switch over to 102.7 The Wolf to hear the beginning of the 3-18-78 show. This is OK though because the 3-19-83 show was a one shot deal for me this weekend, while I can listen to what I missed on the 3-18-78 show on a bunch of stations today and tomorrow morning. Commercials are a necessary evil folks! If a certain station (KZOY) a little under two hours north of me, would have done that more often, they just might still be streaming AT40 right now. Ads pay the bills-that is one way stations make money in order to provide services .

I don't think anybody is complaining about commercials. Everyone knows they are a necessity. The grip is with how ridiculous some of them are. How can the ad agencies think some are good enough to air? And if you are the advertiser, why would you accept some of this garbage they put out. Like was stated above how could anyone think Floetry is funny or even remotely interesting. I'm thankful for the ads on the show: How else would I know that's it's 'almost club season' and that it's time for me to start parading around in 'short shorts'? Not a particularly 'obnoxious' ad, but I do think that the target age range for this ad and the target age range for the Classic AT40 shows is not exactly a match!

I listened to the 1982 show from Rutland, VT's WJJR. I usually tune out the commercials, but this time I decided to listen so I could comment on the thread :
The chain store Home Depot anchors the latest commercial set… Now for Progressive Auto Insurance… Match.com—now they have a free offer… GMC season—time to fit into anything—about dieting…. An ad for lunch—songs from the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s… Now, for a fashion ad…Mattress Firm—this one was good--until the fast talking at the end… I Want to Be Recycled.org—a rare public service ad… Now for the Geico corporation...GMC again…Home Depot—fast talking at the end… Charcoal strips—Fiore (sp)—Red Tag sale— Some Vermont-based furniture store (Diamond’s?—ironically it has a 1982 sound to the jingle)… Rutland Pharmacy ad…GMC and girls’ night out-- Toilet’s clogged—Progressive Auto Insurance—someone’s kid must have clogged the toilet—as I had to our toilet back in 1968 and got into huge trouble for it…Sealy is back—72 months interest-free—that takes us almost a third of the way into the next decade—2023! So what should I do with these balloons? Another commercial set, another GMC… Now another irritating ad from the moronic Geico… Noxatril—free bottle offer… Ashley Furniture Home Store—featuring Ashley herself…(local ad) Mexican cooking classes—learn how to make Mexican desserts—liked this one… ”I met someone!” Yeah, it is time for Match again ”Can I help you pick out some flowers?” Progressive’s ads are annoying! Bennington Furniture may be locally owned, but their commercial sounds annoying—like a nationally-based ad. “Spring cleaning should start in your laundry room.” So says the Home Depot chain store ad. Here comes the inane Flo—her Flo-etry can take a long walk! CPAT machine and sleep apnea—no more snoring
Flo and Progressive get my vote for this week's most obnoxious Premiere commercial! However, there was no Katie Intrusion this week.

This week, it was The Wolf (California). Here is this week's summary:
(On the Wolf, a California radio station)
Exhibit Number 2… Now we hear Flo—stupidity in action… Lowe’s—chain store mania— Here comes my second crack at Exhibit number 2… Exchange Bank and their United Way campaign…This station is in Sonoma County…I have gone from Las Vegas to Rutland, VT—and now--this week--back out west… The next commercial block had another entry in Geico’s Pantheon of Stupidity.

It's better than the action figure and toy car one.

That's what I thought. I'll admit that I find a lot of the Flo ads clever -- and clearly, they WORK or they'd have disappeared long ago. What shocked me this week is that Groupon still exists. Who knew?

After hearing the song at #18 on the 4-24-76 show, I thought to myself "Play the ad ok, please!" I don't know why Premiere does this to me, I don't understand it. Is Don on the phone? Why do we hear a f****** up-tempo ad after a slow record...Well, you know the rest-LOL !
