Now all I can think about is I-95 (WINE FM a.k.a. WRKI) out of Danbury, CT, a rock station with a narrow playlist, in Spring 1983 intro-ing "Beat It" as being by Eddie Van Halen and, um, oh, 'Michael.' Michael whom, pray tell? Being timid or ashamed about fully identifying Michael Jackson made me think of the station as being wusses.

All Right: Christopher Cross ft. Michael McDonald Michael also lent his voice on the (underrated!) second single from that same album (Another Page), "No Time For Talk".

If McDonald wasn't singing with the Doobies or his solo stuff, his name would be all over the place if that practice was used back in the late 1970s-early 1980s. His voice was heard on many hit singles where he wasn't the lead vocalist.

Kenny Rogers Ft. GK & the Pips: Share Your Love A little more than eight years later, Kenny did a duet with Gladys Knight, called "If I Knew Then What I Know Now", which hit #10 on the AC chart in the spring of 1990.

Somebody's Watching Me - ...featuring Michael Jackson Ride Like the Wind - ...featuring Michael McDonald On this week's 1984 show Casey mentioned the absence of MJ for the 1st time in 74 weeks. But with featuring, that AT40 streak would have been alive and ongoing.

But with featuring, that AT40 streak would have been alive and ongoing. If "Somebody's Watching Me" is counted, then Michael Jackson would have been continuously on AT40 from 11/13/82 to 5/12/84. And if Jermaine Jackson's "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming", featuring Michael on backing vocals, had been released as a commercial single then MJ's AT40 presence, featured and otherwise, would probably have continued until 10/13/84.
