I wonder about this sometimes, particularly with how producers have become more prominent as credited artists in recent years. If hits from decades past were treated with the same model, how they might have been presented.
I think a lot of the house and dance hits of the 90s were credited mostly to producers anyway and the vocalists weren't often credited.
Darkchild and William Orbit might have gotten more listed credits than they did.
Maybe Giorgio Moroder and other disco producers of the 70s and 80s.

On Joshua Kadison's "Beautiful In My Eyes", there is a back-up singer near the end that sounds a lot like Jennifer Holliday. Somehow, I don't think that's who it is (at least I don't find any indication of it when I google her name and/or the song title).

On this week's 1984 show Casey mentioned the absence of MJ for the 1st time in 74 weeks. But with featuring, that AT40 streak would have been alive and ongoing. If "Somebody's Watching Me" is counted, then Michael Jackson would have been continuously on AT40 from 11/13/82 to 5/12/84. And if Jermaine Jackson's "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming", featuring Michael on backing vocals, had been released as a commercial single then MJ's AT40 presence, featured and otherwise, would probably have continued until 10/13/84. Muscles: Diana Ross ft. Michael Jackson would have extended the streak back to the 10/16/82 chart.

I do recall MJ singing backup on Diana Ross' not making the top 40 song from 1985 called "Eaten Alive".

I always understood it to be MJ on DR's Fall 1982 "Muscles," singing background vocals. Had to listen right now again to confirm it, though.
Never picked up that that was Daryl Hall on INXS's 1984 "Original Sin." Pretty sad, I heard it on WXCI and WLIR all the time back then. I feel like I'm supposed to turn in my ears or something. Maybe I wasn't listening on headphones or something. I heard Daryl singing on Elvis Costello's "Only Flame In Town" from 1984, does that count as extra credit?
