Well, once again, Casey is host this week. This now makes the 49th consecutive week that Casey has hosted. The last guest host was from the weekend of Feb 14/15, 2004, when Ed McMann filled in on what was still two versions of AT20.
While i'm not saying it's a bad thing by any means, the more Casey, the better!! I guess over the years I got used to the one guest host every 3-5 weeks, except for April-July method. I wonder if this is purely coincidence, or if it is because Casey signed something in his new contract.
Also, aside from the first year and whatever of the original AT40, is this the longest Casey has gone without a guest host?
Or- does this have something to do with the fact that Ed McMann is no longer with KISS in Boston.

My guess is that the less-demanding schedule (ie, one taping day instead of two each week) makes it easier for Casey to come in and do the shows each week. Plus, he's always struck me as someone who truly enjoys what he's doing.

my thoughts exactly about the schedule, I know his not taking time off has nothig to do with Ed McMann. But on that note, if Ed is no longer emplyed by CC, do you think this would be a good time to have Seacrest sit in for him to start the final transition for when Casey hangs it up for good. No, I am not saying to make it sound like AT40, or Casey is on his way out, but Brian Williams sat in for Tom Brokaw for 10 years being groomed to take his spot, thats more my logic here.

It's not going to happen, because at least in the HAC arena, Seacrest would be competing against himself with the new HAC version of AT40 that began on 12/4.

Speaking of AT40 HAC, does anyone know what stations are playing it? I'd like to hear it.

It exists. There is some mention of it on premrad.com, and a fellow AT40 fan emailed me about it yesterday.

There is mention of it on the new 2005 Program Clock site which is an extention of the Premiere site (which also kind of explains the optional extra, although the clocks for AT20/AT10 are off by a bit) engineering.premiereradio.com/

I found it, I also noticed it still has the time clock up for Dees's shows.....they must not employ full time web people.

I find it curious that they even made the 2005 clock for the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, since they knew at least a month and a half ago Dees was out in 2005.

probably for the benefit of the radio stations who were airing his year end show which I think was airing the week it was changed. I didn't hear it so I have no way of knowing for sure.
I know you are probably thinking the stations should have been able to look at the queue sheets and figure it out....I learned about two and a half years ago, you can't trust or have faith in people to know anything or do the right thing.
I wanted to touch back on the fact that Casey is on 49 weeks and counting, it's already been mentioned that his schedule may conflict less with doing only two shows as opposed to three. Theres also the very realistic possibility he took a few days in one week to do all of the Christmas shows for AT10 and the year end show thus giving hin even more time to rest. Plus, he probably did the same with AT20's year ender doing it after the final regular weekly show. So, he could have very easily had a semi break since before Thanksgiving, and had 2-3 full weeks off after taping AT20.
I am sure he will be out occasionally, but his plate isn't nearly as full as it was over the last many years. When we talk about Casey not hosting CT40 and always being off, remember he was also producing a weekly TV show (Americas Top 10) as well. Plus I think he was doing a lot more voicework for various cartoons as well. I don't know that for sure, but it wouldnt surprise me.

The year end countdown for Dees aired the weekends of December 18/19 and 25/26, before the new clocks went into effect.
As for the 49 weeks and counting, i'm sure he did the AT10 Christmas shows together and he does the year end countdowns all together and very early. And if i'm not mistaken, depending on how the shows fall, sometimes he even does the first regular show of the new year before the holidays.
I guess it was just the usual times Casey is ALWAYS off (the weekend after the full week following Thanksgiving, the weekend where the show would have been tracked on the week of July 4th, one of the first shows of the new year) and he wasn't this year just surprised me. But I suppose now that he isn't on his Wednesday AT20's and Thursday AT40 schedule, he could probably almost choose to do AT20 and AT10 on Wednesday or Thursday depending on his schedule and the staff's schedule.

I mean, he did his first regular show of the year on January 1, but that's not "before the holidays". I don't believe he's ever done his first regular weekly show before then. I figure that next year, since Christmas is on a Sunday and, hence, over the full weekend, he'll be doing a Christmas show that weekend and, on New Year's weekend, which starts off on December 30, he'll do the year-end show.

How can what be? Casey has many times I believe taped the first show of the new year before the year enders air. They use the last chart of the previous year for it, hence the bigger jumps on the show the second week of the new countdown year. They could really get away with that on the AC chart now being that for 5-6 weeks they don't even air a regular weekly show.
