And those are the second and third rap songs to make it onto AT40. (If you agree with Gary Owens who called the latter a rap song which in turn may have been said because that's what was mentioned in the song itself. Said they were going to rap at the beginning of it).

Well, I would say that those two songs have two things in common.
They are sung by females and they utilize more of a sing-rap style as opposed to the talk-rap style that became more prevalent.
Other than that, they do not sound alike.

How about the same *notes* in two very different artists' very different songs?
Somehow I missed "Still in Saigon" by Charlie Daniels when it was new, and apparently never really listened to it until this week's 80s show... because...
Listen to 13 notes of Charlie's song about 19 seconds in. Now listen to the first sung line of Blondie's "Call Me." Same notes, right?

Hearing Kenny Rogers' "She Believes in Me" debut on today AT40 the 70s, it reminded how much the chorus had me humming Bread's "Lost Without Your Love." About as much as Ed Sheeran's current "Thinking Out Loud" has me humming Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On."

When I heard "Shout It Out Loud" by Kiss on the 1976 show last week, I kept thinking it sounded like "Sky Pilot" by Eric Burdon & the Animals.
