"Joanna" by Kool & The Gang kind of reminds me of "Solid" by Ashford & Simpson.

For years I thought Marvin Gaye's Got to Give It Up was KC and the Sunshine Band and JD Souther's Only Lonely was Jackson Browne, who did backing vocals.

For years I thought Marvin Gaye's Got to Give It Up was KC and the Sunshine Band and JD Souther's Only Lonely was Jackson Browne, who did backing vocals. For some reason back in 1979 I didn't think of it - but I believe JD was "doing Orbison" on that song. So that would fit in this thread as well.

Earlier in the topic, someone New Radicals. I always thought that the lead singer sounded like Mick Jagger, especially on "You Get What You Give".

I think Milli Vanilli's "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You" (1989) sounds a lot like "Make It Real" by The Jets (1988).

I think "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" by Glenn Medeiros sounds a lot like "Ready To Take A Chance Again" by Barry Manilow.

Bruno Mars' latest hit "Young Girls" sounds like "Jaded" by Aerosmith.

In more recent music, "Roar" by Katy Perry & "Brave" by Sara Bareilles sound so alike.
Also, the opening to "Best Song Ever" by One Direction sounds like the opening to "Baba O'Riley" by the Who.

The chorus to Ellie Goulding's "Burn" sounds just like the chorus to Bruce Springsteen's "I'm Goin' Down". Also, Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" reminds me of R. Kelly's guest appearance on Lady Gaga's "Do What You Want".

lasvegaskid, that certainly makes sense, as Kenny Nolan wrote both his ILD and FV's MEAY. What really gets me is that he wrote Labelle's "Lady Marmalade." I mean, you could interchange Frankie and Kenny's songs, but I can NOT imagine Frankie or Kenny singing LM.
