Optional extras for the next two weeks: Top 100 of 1983:Part II (January 5-7, 2024): Hour #4: Medley of #1 Hits From 1983 The #1 hits medley is apparently a Premiere creation (I can't find mention of or room for it on the original cue sheet), and will replace Duran Duran's "Rio" which was included in Part 2, Hour 4 previously. Did Ken Martin create medleys for the 80's years when he did the Number Ones of the 1980's series? No, not in the #1's series. However, a medley was created for the top 100 of 1984 a few years back in that year-end, as the last optional extra segment. I don't recall if any other year-end shows in the 80s had this done, but it wasn't done for the #1's series.

I don't think any of the 80's series Year-End shows since that 1984 show have had a moan-tage. Neither of last years shows 1980 and 1986 had one, nor did the year before (1981/1987) that I can find.

Looking back through the thread (cuz I simply can't solely rely on my memory as much as I used to), 1983 and 1984 appear to be the only 80s year-ends that have medleys done. I would think 1985 or maybe 1982 would be next in line to get one (1982 hasn't aired since 2016).

Up to the cut-off date, yes. 2 more in the calendar year, "Mickey" and "Maneater". 16 if you count "Physical", which spilled over from '81 to remain at #1 for most of January '82.

AT40 counted the #1s that were in the respective year end surveys. 1980 went from "Pop Muzik" through "Woman in Love", 1981 went from "Lady" through "Private Eyes", and 1982 went from "Physical" through "Up Where We Belong".

So I guess Lionel Richie's "Truly" might have made the Top 100 of 1983.

Curious … with 231 No. 1 hits from the 1980s decade, how long would a complete montage of No. 1 hits, from “Please Don’t Go” by KC & the Sunshine Band, to “Another Day In Paradise” by Phil Collins take?
