The 70s-show thread currently is noting that the past week's show omitted Larry Morgan's usual intro, and went right to the theme. Presumably, Larry did a closing, else that would have been noted, too. This isn't occurring with 80s shows, is it? dL No .... however there is still that one 80's episode floating around out there that goes right into hour 3 with the 21 number jingle after Larry's intro, with no other AT40 fanfare (3/17/1984). I believe Casey's intro was omitted because of a sponsor. Several 1984 and 1985 shows have these, a lot of them in Hour 3. I can't recall which sponsor was in that show, but Dr. Pepper was in some 1985 shows.

Okay, just noticed on the cue sheets that the performer of "The Rain" is listed as... ahem... ORAL "Juice" Jones. Oops.

As much as 1982 is due, I don't see it happening for October 14th/15th. I predict 10/15/1983 will be featured that weekend as a standalone show with it last aired in 2016, also in part because of two solar eclipses coming up on 10/14/2023 (annular) and 4/8/2024 (total) in the US and parts of Canada, with the #1 song fitting the theme. My backup prediction is 10/16/1982 as an A show with a B show TBD, but I think 1982 is more likely in late October or early November (and I wouldn't rule out 1982 being a year-end countdown candidate for this year into 2024).

This same AT40 show (9/29/84) would the last they would air on Sirius XM 80s back in 2009 before they went with the VJs instead. Biggest mistake Sirius XM ever made, except for the fact we get late 1988 and all of 1989 on there now.

I actually have this recording from Sirius XM, and wow, there was tons of content from the original show deleted that we get to hear on terrestrial radio this weekend.

The snippet of the 1934 song "Rock 'n Roll" by the Boswell Sisters (it was from a Jack Benny movie that 1934 year) on the 9/29/1984 show was first heard a year earlier in a 1983 AT40 show to tie in with ELO's "Rock 'n Roll Is King".

Question.
Is there any particular reason the 80s show list isn't being kept up? It hasn't been touched since the early part of July, while we're now in October.

So I guess Premiere doesn't care about the special events like the annular solar eclipse on October 14th when picking the 80s show, however at least my backup prediction of 10/16/1982 as an A show was correct. Having said I do think the Top 100 of 1982 seems likely at the end of 2023/start of 2024 as an A show.
