WPNC/Magic 95 - the next few days July 8 6a - 10 a - American Top 40 from July 4, 1998 10a - 2p - Top 40 Artist of the 80's Part 2 2p - 6p - American Top 40 June 6, 2000 6p - 9p - First American Top 40 9p - 1a - Final American Top 40 Do we assume the final AT40 is 8/6/88 or could it be the 1/3/04 show? WPNC appears to have been consistent with most of the bonus programs from Premiere for the 4th of July weekend. If that holds true, then it's the final, final Casey program from January 3, 2004.

With 7/9/88 as this weekend's designated "B" show, that year won't be featured again until early 2023. They could still do 8/6/88 and it wouldn’t be too close, but they’ve usually played that on 5 or 10 year anniversaries of its original broadcast (2008, 2013, 2018). So more likely next year.

I am listening to Top 40 Disappearing Acts, which appears to be from 1973. Q: When did Casey stop using the 'cat squeal' intro he is using? (Seems to be the original from 1970.) It was summer 1973, maybe the 7/14 show. It didn't entirely go away, though.

Heard on the radio on Saturday that KKLZ in Las Vegas is moving AT 40 80's to Sunday mornings. It's been a Saturday institution for a long time. Now I have to find a new late morning Saturday Casey to listen to. If KKLZ goes with this week's 'A' show (7/12/80) in their move toward playing music from the 80s and beyond, they may want to take an advance look at the cue sheets. Not only are there two songs from the 70s played, but Casey also featured a #1 hit from 1958 and three more #1s (AT40 archives) from 1960.

Though the 1988 chart has a reissue of an early 1960s hit on it ("Do You Love Me"), and a rap-ified reworking of another ("The Twist".)

Yeah, not sure what year the one WPNC is playing now is from - Top 40 Songs of the Rock Era, but that one has the 'cat squeal' from 1970 as well.

Yes; it was changed to "Lookin' For Love" in 2019, when this show was the B to a 1987 A, at a time when 1987 and 1988 were still paired with earlier 1980s B's. Interestingly, that A show (July 4, 1987) was repeated as a standalone in 2021, an exception to the usual Premiere pattern of waiting at least three years before replaying an A or standalone (except maybe as a B.)

Idle thought: I wonder who has AT40's famous "PO Box 2000, Hollywood" address now.

No, that was July 16 (where "Sweet Child O' Mine" was also an extra; it was there that he was mentioned).
