I have a feeling that it is a standalone - otherwise, we would have found out by now, especially if the second show was an "A" offering. If so, then 1981 could be this year's year end countdown for end of 2021/start of 2022 as the A option with the B option TBD rather than the 1987 year-ender standalone we hoped. The only thing that could preclude 1981 from being the year-end special is if 12/12/81 were on tap for the second week of December (which is very likely since it has aired only once back in 2012) so we'll have to see.

1981 could still be the year-end if 12/12/1981 aired. In 2015, 12/8/1984 aired (new), and 1984 was also the year-end. Can't rule it out. At that point in the year, songs from the following year are much more likely to be replicated, rather than from the same year.
I'm still betting on 1987, but can't rule out 1981 on that scenario alone.

Prediction for next show: 11/8/80 It almost has to be a 1980 show this week. The week's shows for all other years were either played in the last 3 years, from a year recently featured (or in 1982 and 1983's case will be shortly) or guest-hosted. The coming week's show is dated November 2 so 11/1/80 is most likely a no-go. Agree with this -- 11/8/80 would be my first guess for the weekend of November 6th. If not that, then it could be one of 1982 (11/6 or 11/13) or 1983 (11/5).

I wonder what the "B" show is? Most likely, 1987 (11/7 perhaps). The 11/08/1986 show was done last year, so unless they go with 11/15, that year would not be a good bet.

I'm willing to bet that 10/24/81 will be the designated "A" show next week. I hope you don't 'bet' like this in my favorite city. After the last couple weeks you wouldn't have enough money left for a $1.99 buffet.

So, 11/1/1980 remains yet to be played again with the 3 AT40 Archive songs restored - maybe this can happen in 2022?

I'd guess so, since if KOLA has chosen 1980 for the following week (as posted at their site), then I don't see why they'd pass on 1981, especially as we haven't heard that year in over two months.

The fact that LVK called it an "A" show implied that another regular weekly show would be the "B" show Or it's a basic default because 1980 would otherwise not stand alone. Either he already knows for sure that next week will in fact have a regular A/B pairing, or he doesn't, in which case calling it an "A" show means absolutely nothing other than he just feels like putting it that way.

With 11/8/1980 coming on next week, I suspect we'll be getting 11/14/1981 (last aired in 2016) the following week and that 11/13/1982 will have to wait another year (which by then would make it 13 years since its one and only airing).
ETA: 11/20/1982 hasn't aired since 2010 so I would bet on that one rather than 11/13 (which would lead to 11/19/1983 also waiting another year).
