In addition to the story "False Teeth": Titanium implants can really be an antenna for electromagnetic fields. And if not Linda Ronstadt, but for example Charlene´s "I’ve Never Been To Me" had been received as music back then ... I've always thought they should have made a video for "I've Never Been To Me" and made it a literal interpretation of song. It starts off with some woman standing in a park or some other public place when Charlene walks up to her, "Hey lady, you lady...." and starts telling her this sob story of her life. The woman looks around trying to figure out what is happening then looks at her watch and says "I, I, I have to go" and starts to walk away (quickly) but Charlene runs up to her "Please lady, please lady, don't just walk away..." and the story continues. The woman is now VERY eager to get away from this whack job on the street when Charlene begins her speech "Hey you know what paradise is?" As Charlene wraps up her speech the woman is pulling away then Charlene belts out the rest of the song. The woman is now running down the road clutching her baby in her arms. The song fades to a close as we see Charlene approach another woman "Hey lady, you lady...." and the cycle begins again!!!!! There was a video.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oSjhuIb6Us

Just like last week's show, 10/20/1984 has several double-digit droppers. Updating this to say that there were six double-digit droppers: Go Insane - 16 notches (23 to 39) If This Is It - 16 notches (19 to 35) There Goes My Baby - 12 notches (21 to 33) What's Love Got to Do With It - 14 notches (15 to 29) Cruel Summer - 13 notches (14 to 27) The Warrior - 14 notches (11 to 25)

By the way: There´s also a video where Charlene can actually be seen:
And here´s the Spanish version:

Casey answered a QL (Question Letter) about the biggest selling comedy album of all time-That turned out to be "The First Family" which spoofed the administration of John F.Kennedy-I remember listening to that album when I was a child-It was hilarious! Done by Vaughn Meader, whose career faded after JFK's death. Despite other jobs Meader did in the 1980's, Meader passed away in 2004.

The story Casey told reminded me of the Partridge Family episode titled Old Scrapmouth. That's the show where Laurie was hearing music through her braces. The culprit was music coming from a transistor radio that the character played by Mark Hamill was listening to as he was in their neighborhood.

This week we had She Bop and Bop til You Drop in the countdown. Cyndi has said her Bop was about spanking the money. If Rick’s was- it sounds like a bit too much! Lol.

This made me wonder if it ever turned out that the two wound up back to back - nope. Not on AT40, R&R, Cash Box, Gavin, not even the once-oft-cited ARC Weekly Top 40. Actually, Cash Box revealed that "Bop 'Til You Drop" turned out to be one of those songs where something funny happened on their chart. It was up to #30 at the end of September, then abruptly fell to the middle of the Top 100 and spent the next month or so floundering around #50.

Prediction for next show:
11/8/80
It almost has to be a 1980 show this week. The week's shows for all other years were either played in the last 3 years, from a year recently featured (or in 1982 and 1983's case will be shortly) or guest-hosted. The coming week's show is dated November 2 so 11/1/80 is most likely a no-go.

I have a feeling that it is a standalone - otherwise, we would have found out by now, especially if the second show was an "A" offering.

If so, then 1981 could be this year's year end countdown for end of 2021/start of 2022 as the A option with the B option TBD rather than the 1987 year-ender standalone we hoped.

Regarding this past weekend's AT40: The 80's 10/20/1984 show's first OPTIONAL EXTRA of "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister: That Twisted Sister "I Wanna Rock" song was heard in 2 parts of the October 24, 2021 first run Simpsons episode (where Bart and Lisa go to a water park and end up with bloated stomachs)!
