Small nitpick: That actually would be for the week of 5/1/2021. I'm guessing he said 4/30 because of WWIS airing the show on Fridays.

^Yeah, that sounds logical. That's when I listen to the show as well.

Later in '82: "Sexual Healing", also at #19. And upon checking, I see that that particular show - 11/20/82 - also hasn't aired in any capacity since 2010. Maybe that will be coming down the pipe when we get to that point of the year? It has to be either that show or 11/13/82, which last aired in 2009! November 1982 shows have been few and far between over the last 12 years. If 11/13/1982 airs in November mixed in with the AT40 Christmas shows, there goes hope for 12/11/1982 to get a chance to be played again in December 1982.

Not necessarily -- those two shows are just far enough apart that Premiere could play them both. They literally played two 1971 'A' shows within a 4-week period in the past two months. Those two 1982 shows would be five weeks apart if they align them with the current dates.

^Jim Steinman is on this week's countdown with Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero".

^Jim Steinman is on this week's countdown with Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero". Fortuitous timing for both Premiere and me as it's one of my favorite songs of the decade. I still maintain it would have been a bigger hit it the label had waited to release it when there weren't already multiple songs from Footloose out at the same time. I'm guessing "Holding Out For A Hero's presence probably means Premiere won't feel the need to change on the fly and do an "In Memoriam" OE of "Read 'Em And Weep" by Barry Manilow, which peaked earlier in the year.

That may well be so; in the UK "Holding Out For a Hero" was belatedly released as a single, and peaked at #2 in September 1985--a year and a half after the Footloose album and its other hits were high in the charts. More recently it's often been heard in other films, TV shows, and commercials, so it now "feels" like a much bigger hit than it originally was, at least chartwise. Another Jim Steinman production that was a hit in 1984 that could be an optional extra but likely won't is Billy Squier's "Rock Me Tonite", though it's less remembered now for Steinman's role than for Kenny Ortega's--to wit, the somewhat infamous video.

It's like you read my mind, word for word. 1985 is my favorite musical year. I'm with you both--since I was a kid, 1985 has always been my favorite. This show is among the best of the bunch… I thought I was alone in loving the 1985 shows more than others. Maybe it's because I graduated High School in '85, not sure…just love it. For me the best of the best are the July-August-September of 85 shows. I'm amazed at how many of these songs I have on my iPod (yes I still have an iPod).

Used to have a Zune until a few years ago, so I'm in the apparently small demographic that still uses a separate device as my music player (and I've gotten made fun of for it a few times). Not an Apple guy though...

Two things I noticed about the 4/20/85 show and haven't mentioned yet: 1) Before playing "Don't You Forget About Me)" Casey said there were five songs on the chart that were "written for or originally appeared in movies"----but he only mentioned four of them! I'm guessing "Rhythm Of The Night", which he later mentioned as being in Short Circuit when he introduced it, was supposed to be #5.
2) You know how Casey often started the show by saying "we've got (X) debuts including the latest hit(s) by (this artist/these artists)? Well on this show ALL three songs that he did NOT tease peaked higher than the three songs he DID tease.

Not an Apple guy though... I still have a Sony Walkman MP3 player from 2007. It still works and does what I need it to do - play music. Simple drag and drop to add mp3s. Although it's tucked away in a drawer somewhere, I also have the original Walkman FM stereo radio from 1981.
