On this week's 1976 show, Casey said that if Seals & Crofts climbed any more from their 6-16 pole vault that week, it would be their highest charter ever. It would go no higher. The same show (7/24/76) had a "reverse jinx" when after playing "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", which jumped to #8 after debuting at #23, Casey said "I know what you're thinking. Can't miss #1."

On the final show 36 years ago Casey started by saying it sounded like the guys had a lotta fun as the prior week's guest hosts. Maybe not. Were we seeing the beginning of H&Os rift, D&J just going through the motions?? From Rob Durkee American Top 40: Darryl Morden recalled Hall and Oates were terrible. You'd think guys like that would be friendly and nice, but they were neither, which was kind of a disappointment. They has a 'let's get this over with' kind of attitude.' Matt Wilson, who directed the duo, perceived a possible failure to communicate. 'I don't blame them. They had a show that night at the Hollywood Bowl. I believe they were misled into thinking they'd be in and out in 20 minutes. It was partly ABC and partly their manager though I could be wrong. I know this...you can't voice a full length countdown in 20 minutes'.

And when did Casey had his first guest host week for Casey's Top 40 after CT40 was launched in January 1989?

This week in 1987 Commentary Casey said Fleetwood Mac was hanging together despite turbulence. It would be 15 years before we'd get another album from the classic lineup and more recently Stevie Nicks is telling everyone that will listen Mac is finished.

No Christine McVie, no Mac. IMO.

As I noted in another thread, that streak had already ended. About a year earlier, "Waterfalls" came up woefully short peaking at 105.
