We Built This City has once again been voted as the worst song of the 1980s, this time by the readers of Rolling Stone magazine.

I absolutely hate Mickey Thomas. He's an arrogant prick who can't even hold Marty Balin's jock! Then again, compare him to Paul Kantner & Grace Slick along with Marty and you can see why he is so bad.
Its Not Enough is about the ONLY song I can tolerate from the MT era of Starship!
HOWEVER, there are worse songs....

No way , the song is a legend and a big number 1, the voters of that "survey" probably were thinking they vote for anything else....

So was you Light up My life (A #1) But that one shucks too!
Jefferson Airplane/Starship had great songs, that is NOT one of them!

OK, no their best, but ending twice like that in those Surveys. At least in Spain Rolling Stone Magazine is so pedant and made by illuminate, people from the modern european left who think they live in wonderland as long as they dont work for their lifes and wait for money from the authorities because they think they are cool.
That kind of surveys suck.

I guess jcaragon is one of those who thinks that occupiers are just a bunch of spoilt brats who want something for nothing. Well, that's what they said about hippies. And sure enough, a lot of hippies became the ultra-conservatives of today. Go figure!

Not that far, but you have to see what ´s going on here in Europe when people think everything is pink .
I used to be comunist when younger, now I keep my feet on the ground and leave others to reach for the stars .... Anyway, We built this city is legend no matter what a magazine says.

Maybe that's the issue, caragon: you should try reaching for the stars a little more often. You're never too old for it.

On the exact same date of this show, I saw Starship open for Night Ranger in all Bay area concert tour. Where's the time machine!!

"State of Shock" never gets any love for this award. Personally, I think it should especially since Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger are on it. Instead, voters typically pick on acts they do not like or those who are one-hit wonders.

I agree EasyE. That song is awful, would have been better with the original pairing of Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury!

I was listening to Rick Dee's year end countdown of 1985 an he interviewed Grace Slick ahead of playing this song an she stated it was likely their biggest hit.
Personally I like the song, not in love with it, but like it. Not as good as "Nuthins gonna stop us now", but definetly better than "Sara".

As far as I remember "State of Shock" had no a promo video clip, even it had no a photo for the single cover, I bet they even met to record the single . IMHO it was a track for the convenience of the record company or maybe because Mike once told he liked Jacko , especially after Thriller .
