This week we are counting down the top 40 from July 6, 1968. Our Lost Artist Spotlight will be The Boxtops. If you are interested in following along here is a link for the cue sheets that I made up. Let me know if this helps. If you would like to stay in suspense then you do not have to click on this link. www.4shared.com/folder/1fH4ETTs/TOC_top_40_cue_sheets.htmlI apologize for the waiting time.

This week's show will be the 40 from July 14, 1979. I believe AT40 the 70's is doing the same week we are. Only thing is our show plays the "full" song (no early fadeouts), and some 12" and original LP versions are thrown in there too. Our Lost Artist Spotlight is Robert John. This time we hit the magical 3 hour mark on cue. Again see the above link for cue sheets for show #41.
Replay will be around 4:15 p.m.
Here is the tentative schedule for August:
8/5/2012 -- 8/4/1962 8/12/2012 -- 8/13/1977 8/19/2012 -- 8/16/1980 8/26/2012 -- archived show ??

I just finished the revision of this week's show for July 22, 1989. Due to the current event that happened in Aurora, CO. I had to go back in and make a special announcement and delete the #4 song "Batdance" by Prince from the show. Also I could not play a cut from the #1 LP which is also from the movie. I had to re-time the show and update the cue sheets. The link is two posts up for show #42 Revised. Originally this show would have been 3 hours and 19 minutes (the longest ever), but it was cut to 3:09. If all goes well the replay will be around 4:31 p.m.
I just started getting the music together for our next show which is the top 40 albums from 7/29/1972. Talking about different music tastes. We go from bagpipes to gospel (on the same song!) from rock to a movie score, live recordings to screaming nuns. Not to mention a 22 minute cut and a 16 minute track back to back ACK. This show may be close to 4 hours long when it is done.

A 22 minute cut? Hmmm, wasnt it the following week that Thick As A Brick was in the show? You must not be playing the whole song, which is both sides of the album.
I think its an overreaction to not play something from the 1989 Batman soundtrack because of what happened.

I think its an overreaction to not play something from the 1989 Batman soundtrack because of what happened. I do have an option of playing the three minute radio edit. But it looks like part 1 (first side) of the original LP will be played. I was going to play "Electric Chair" from the album, but it was nixed yesterday. I may play it as an extra on the August 19th. show.

The best edit IMHO is "Edit #4". It was on a collection called Repeat.

I just slapped together a interesting show of the top 40 albums from 7/29/1972. The show features one or two selected tracks (mostly from the current chart for that date). As far as "Thick As A Brick", it was cut down to six and a half minutes and not the 22 minute side which was intended for play. The show, the longest regular countdown by far clocks at 3 hours and 53 minutes. The replay will occur around 4:22 p.m. I'm not going to make the cue sheet available this time and will keep you in suspense on which tracks from the albums be played.

The next countdown is ready to air this Sunday as we go back, back, waaayyy back to 1962. Lots of extra songs and the Lost Artist Spotlight and a track from the #1 LP 50 years ago. It was great re-living the songs from my grade school years. Click on the cue sheet at post #107 to catch a glimpse of the titles and artists for show #44.
Rebroadcast will be around 4:52 p.m.
I may be on vacation August 26 and will not do a show for that date. I may pull a show out of the archive -- more later.

This weeks show will be from August 13, 1977. I did not plan this one as being it fell three days before Elvis's death, so this is how the countdown was just before it happened. The cue sheet for show #45 is up and (see reply #107) ready. I will be on vacation August 19-27 and will not do the show live on the 26th. For now (unless someone has a better show) I will replay the one from July 4, 1970. "The Chart That American Top 40 should have counted down on their first show". Replay will be around 4:40 p.m.

I almost forgot to post my new show for September 7, 1985. This is quite a long one as we feature several long versions and a twelve minute Hal David medley that I spent two hours putting together. At first I thought it would be a four to five minute medley, but things just got out of hand. Cue sheets are up for show #48 (see reply #116 to get there). Replay will be around 5:06 p.m.

I ran a good day behind on everything this week as I had a wisdom tooth surgically extracted (and you can tell by my voice) a few days ago. This weeks show is from September 18, 1976. Replay will be around 5:06 p.m.
