This Sunday's top 40 show will be from April 6, 1985. There are a few long cuts in this show taken from the original LP's and a artists that has two hits in the top 5. The running time will be 3 hours exactly and will replay around 4:20 p.m.

This Sunday's top 40 countdown will be from April 13, 1963. It is amazing that a large number of songs that are played here are under three minutes and a couple of songs that are just over two minutes. Therefore I jammed in 11 additional songs (under the top 40) and an unusual album at number one that I had to borrow from my father's collection. This will be the shortest show that I ever did at 2 hours and 15 minutes despite playing 52 songs.
Next week I'll make it up with a full three hour show from 4/22/1972, with a reason that I picked that date. Has Premiere aired that show?

Oops -- I believe that I skipped #34 "Charms" by Bobby Vee and #33 "Surfin' U.S.A." by the Beach Boys and was not played -- Sorry for the inconvenience.

This Sunday we are counting down the top 40 hits from exactly 40 years ago on April 22, 1972. This is one of two reasons that we are doing this show. The second reason has to do with American Top 40 with Casey Kasem. Can anyone guess the reason? The show has some long songs in it from the original LP's plus four extras (I've could have got by with three) plus our cut from the #1 LP of that week. I had time to fit in a tribute to Dick Clark and a clip from his show from 1972. Last week I promise a good 3 hour show and it ran over by 5 minutes. Replay will be around 4:52 p.m. -- There may be a delay in getting the morning show started. I show 9:09 a.m. as the kick off time due to the timing of the concerts that run at midnight.

Without looking or having heard that show, I'm gonna guess that Casey Kasem turned 40 that week.

OK -- Suspense is over, it is the very first AT40 show I collected on vinyl back in 1975. It is given to me by WICH-1310 AM in Norwich, CT., It is also the very first AT40 show that they ever broadcasted.

I think it's high time that the shows for May 2012 be posted:
5/6/2012 -- 5/8/1976 5/13/2012 -- 5/16/1981 5/20/2012 -- 5/21/1966 5/27/2012 -- 5/27/1978

I listened to the last half of the show this morning. Very good. I liked your "we have to go to the bathroom, so here's a long song" jingle.

I used it again for the #6 song on this coming show for April 30, 1983. This week it's all 40 songs back to back with our normal #1 LP cut and this time it's Thriller by Michael Jackson. Can anyone guess which track I'll play. HINT: It is not "Billy Jean" or "Beat It" as they are in the 40. The show runs 3 hours and 5 minutes and will replay around 4:55 p.m.

Our next show is from May 8, 1976. I managed to get all 40 songs (some long ones) and a 10 minute LP track in 2 hours and 58 minutes. Replay will be around 4:15 p.m.

pandy, I wanna thank you for not chopping up Blondie's "Rapture" on your show, unlike what Dick Bartley did to the song on his Sunday Night Countdown for April 1981. He cut the entire rap part out of the song for his show and I was infuriated!

I imagine Dick was shortening it due to time, something all us great hosts with time constraints have to do now and then. Its a long record...
