Probably, though if he's doing a pop top 40 show, the edit probably should be played most times. Unlike my Classic Rock show where both Frampton and Skynyrd come in the same week, both with 14 minute tunes. Thats coming in a month or two!

Just finished off the show for November 12, 1966 for this coming Sunday. The show will have all top 40 songs plus six extras that will be top 40 soon and one Elvis song that stopped at #41, and the #1 LP cut of the week. Also a neat experiment that I'll do that ties song #21 and #6 together. The running time will be 2 hours and 25 minutes.
The rebroadcast of the show is scheduled for 4:38 p.m.
This past Sunday's show of 11/6/1976 is up on the website.

For Sunday 11/20/2011 we are countin' down the top 40 from November 20, 1982. A lot of big movers in the top 40 and a song that I introduced in my 1984 show that is also on the chart in it's original run this week. In the last hour I'll mention the year that we will do a top 100 countdown. HINT: It's a year that AT40 did not do a full 100. I manage to get it to time out at 2 hours and 54 minutes.

My guess will be 1979. I'm guessing it isn't 1970 or 1972 and that leaves 1971 and 1973.

I'm so Excited is the song that charted in 82 and 84 and a great song there. Oh I get it....2 h 54 m for the 1982 countdown. Thought you were referring to the top 100. I will guess 1972.

Yeah, Dukedeb, he's taking a page out of both the XM and Premiere edits book and will present 100 songs in just under 3 hours!

Yeah, Dukedeb, he's taking a page out of both the XM and Premiere edits book and will present 100 songs in just under 3 hours! "That's about a minute plus a song counting the voice track. Of course it's 2:54 for the this weeks show (as I have been posting in the past). The 100 countdown will be around seven and a half hours, so it can be run twice at 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. I'm So Excited" is the song that will be played again on the show.

Yeah, somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 hours is standard for a top 100. I try to keep my top 100's to 8 hours. no more and no less. Of course I'm keeping commercial time in mind too...

In case you missed the show, our drawing was live during the countdown and we had a 3 way tie, so I drew the straw out of the hat and the winner is <drumroll> ..... 1971, so I am underway in compiling the music for the big event and it will be close to seven and a half hours long without going over, so it can be run twice on New Year's Day. Besides the 100 I will try to fit in a track each from the top 5 albums of 1971. Also I'll try to do what AT40 did and play snippets of each of the number one songs in chronological order.

Just finished our countdown for November 24, 1979. which will air this coming Sunday. This week I begin our Christmas segment which I play Christmas songs that were released in it's original run. There are two songs that are featured, can anyone guess? Hint: They are still being played today. This show times out at 3 hours and 4 minutes. The repeat broadcast will be around 4:14 PM Eastern Time.

Paul McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime comes to mind as one of them.

When AT40 did the top 40 of 1971, did they use Billboard's listing or did they tabulate their own list? Either way, you will have to use Billboard's top 100 because if AT40 did their own top 40, how could you figure out what 41-100 were? There is no published list of that.

Either way, you will have to use Billboard's top 100 because if AT40 did their own top 40, how could you figure out what 41-100 were? There is no published list of that. I believe AT40 used Billboard's list of the top 100 inside 12/25/1971 issue. I will be using that chart on the show. I was thinking of using Cashbox, but their chart had different cut-off dates, which some there were big differences in most of the songs. I'm just looking ahead of the Christmas extras for next weekend's show and it should be interesting for 1980. I found three, but two were more focused on New Year's Eve and a novelty Christmas song that was more likely heard on the Doctor Demento show than on your local radio station. So if anyone knows of any songs that were originally released in 1980, let me know and I'll check it out.
