Pandy, for your Top 100 of 1983 show, will you be using the Cashbox charts? Yes. I'll be using Cashbox charts. Also in my notes I'll be mentioning their position of Billbard as well. I have just started acquiring the music this week and will get into production next week. As ususal in the past two year-end specials, will be using news events (with sound bytes) and also playing tracks from the top 5 albums of the year. Also the top 5 TV shows and movies of the year.

OK - Back to the countdown as we use the week of December 14, 1985 chart. There are two Christmas extras and, as usual some interesting stuff. The whole show runs 3 hours and 39 minutes and will repeat at 5 PM (Eastern) The cue sheets are up for Show #113 on my 4-shared site at www.4shared.com/folder/1fH4ETTs/TOC_top_40_cue_sheets.html

Something weird happened regarding yesterday's show (that being the afternoon/evening rerun): the final segment didn't play. Instead, it went back to regular programming. Was that an oversight or just a mistake?

Was that an oversight or just a mistake? I may have scheduled regular programming 30 minutes too soon that day, and it cut-off the last segment.

THE TOP 100 OF 1983 is all set to run this Sunday at 9 a.m. (New York Time) Once again we are using Cashbox magazine year-end chart (from Randy Price) this time. Also we are referencing Billboard chart positions as well for songs that are listed on both charts. If you are following along do not use Casey Kasem's chart. I used their actual year-end chart posted in Wikapedia. The show runs 8 hours and 22 minutes and it is chock full of everything of 1983. There is no repeat at 5, but I will run it again on New Year's day at the same time.

Mt. Pandy thank you for the top 100 of 1983. But the only thing is that the last 3 songs which is the top 3 of 1983 was cut off, both times Sunday 29 and Wednesday 1 New Years Day that the play countdown of 1983 was played. It went back to regular programming. I don't know if you knew this or not. Are you going to play the top 3 or how about the top10 of 1983 as a special along with a regular countdown.

I have rescheduled the final hour of the countdown on next Sunday January 26 right after our regular show of January 27, 1973 with a repeat later on.

Show #118 is ready to air for the week ending January 21, 1967. Lots of great forgotten songs from major artists from that era. There will be nine extra songs on the show plus the usual goodies. Cue sheet are up for those who cheat (see Dec. 15 post for link) The show runs 3 hours and 5 minutes and repeats as usual at 5 PM (New York Time)

This week The Oldies Collection Top Countdown will explore the week ending January 27, 1973. Lotsa remakes in this show also there are no below the 40 extras because it times out at 3 hours 10 minutes. Also in a earlier response I'll be replaying the final hour (#10-1) of the top 100 of 1983, due to a portion of the countdown was never aired. You can look up show #119 cue sheets on the link in an earlier thread.

On Sunday February 9, 2014 in marking the 50th. Anniversary of the Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show The Oldies Collection will be broadcasting a special five hour Beatles show beginning at 9 AM.(New York Time) The first four hours will be a countdown of the 50 top Beatles tracks of all time. The final hour is so special I cannot reveal it now, but listen to it. I have made use of my extensive collection of interviews and tibits in preparation for this show. The show will be repeated at 5 PM the same day. More on that later on.

Our special program of the top 50 Beatles tracks was finished last night. As usual I always go overboard with all the stuff that is available and the show runs overtime. I designated a 5 hour show and it wound up running 5 hours and 11 minutes. If this was not edited down it could of wound up being a six hour show. The first four hours is the countdown itself and the final hour is taken from a cassette tape that have not seen the light of day since 1979.

I have been enjoying this countdown but your technical setup is no better than bestmusicexpert's. I have just lost teh connection for the second time, having to shut off my computer in disgust, missing about 15 minutes each time in part because your site takes so long to actually get to the program. But the main thing is why does the stream cut off in the first place?
Just heard the first segment that I missed earlier and then it cut off again. Good thing I was up to what I had heard earlier. Would have liked to hear a bit more. Oh well. I recall these technical issues the few other times I have tuned in. Anyway, technical issues aside...I guess it goes with the territory...good program. Interesting that NBC was on to the Beatles a few days earlier than CBS and thus got it aired before the JFK assassination. Definitely agree that "A Day in the Life" is their #1 song. Sometimes not basing lists like this on chart data is the best solution.

Sometimes not basing lists like this on chart data is the best solution. Thanks for listening to the show, it was a 5 day rush job to get it all together in time for Sunday's time slot. It was my "labor of love" since I was around that night watching the show 50 years ago. I remember mom, dad, brother and grandma sitting in front of a Zenith black and white TV and grandma who is hard of hearing yelled "Monkeys". And I said "stick around, a group will come around by that name!" As far as being cut off, I apologize for that. Once I upload the show to them, and place it on the schedule, it is out of my hands. They broadcast it out of California. Sometimes when I check on it, I do get cut off now and then. I just checked the stats and it looks like 20 minutes into the show, half my listeners dropped off. I got most of them back 15 minutes later. On the repeat broadcast the same thing happened again 30 minutes in and got them all back 5 minutes later.
