Too bad KFRC flipped its format so I can no longer listen to AT40 70s locally. Here's hoping Oldies 103.7 steps up and picks up not only 70s, but the 80s version as well.

It´s always the same, even as a Premiere Extra, the songs by ABBA, are cut and talked on at the end on AT40, even the Premiere guy has cut Fernando.

did anyone noticed Casey accidently saying YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE dropped two notches, when it actually moved up two notches (despite it was on its way down the chart)?

They cut Magic Man just as they were getting into the bridge! Classic or not, they will cut anything. Hey jcaragon, there is Broadway play in New York right now called Mamma Mia. Larry Morgan only told half the story about Nadia's Theme. The reason that a 3 year old TV theme was finally a hit in 1976 was its being used in the summer olympics that year. Darn, we missed by just one week the one time that AT40 played the long version of She's Gone and the line "Sorry Charlie for the imposition"

Looking up more information on Rosa Rio following Casey's story, I see that she died just last year at the age of 107!

That's why I cannot miss any of these AT40s....when I hear a tidbit like Carolyn Willis singing backup on Get Closer. I have been hearing that song for 35 years and I did not know who that was. That she is from one of fave female groups of all time is icing on the cake. Thanks Casey.
Tough break for Lou Rawls as Casey said he could not wait until next week's chart to see if he hit #1. Got railroaded by KC & the Sunshine Band.

CKWS apparently isn't playing the 1976 show, opting for the 9/4/71 show. Meanwhile, SiriusXM is playing the next weeks show (9/11/71)

I knew Carolyn Willis was with the Honey Cone, but up until the most recent 1976 edition of AT40 about a month ago, I was confused as to her identity. I thought I read once that Carolyn Willis was the lead singer, but that was Edna Wright. Here's a nice performance of Seals, Crofts, and Carolyn Willis from the Dinah Shore show: I think it's safe to say that Casey was a big fan of this song and the artist. I can't blame him!

Thanks for the video. Now I know why I did not associate that vocal with Honey Cone since it was not Edna Wright.

Edna Wright is the younger sister of Darlene Love who sang on a lot of the great Phil Spector records from the early 60's.

So after reading your comment I was going to attempt some humor by replying that I remembered seeing Lou Rawls going on The Mike Douglas Show and being really pissed off about that, and then I thought - no maybe The Dinah Shore Show would be better - and then I decided it wasn't all that funny either way so I didn't post it at all - and then I scrolled down. Weird.
