Speaking of the "f" word, interesting how different stations handle "Money for Nothing." I think AT 40 does an edited version of the song, but classic rock stations do play the version and leave the "f" word in.

First of all, I think it is ornerous horse (you know what) that we haven't heard a countdown from 1971 lately. Here we are, the last time we heard a 1971 countdown was March, and now it's August and have heard neither hide nor hair of that year. I can't for the life of me figure out why. SO WHAT IF THE STATIONS DON'T WANNA PLAY "WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE/ABRAHAM, MARTIN AND JOHN"?!!!? Perhaps we need to hear the song and ponder its message in this age of partisan bickering over the debt crisis and such. Sigh! OK, on with the extras for this week ... (no harm here, 1976 is a good year for music) * "Lowdown" by Boz Scaggs. * "Devil Woman" by Cliff Richard. and there were a couple of tough choices for the third one, but my firm decision is ... * "Still the One" by Orleans. (I decided on this one, over "Magic Man" by Heart and "Don't Fear (The Reaper)" by Blue Oyster Cult.) The other big choice I could have gone with is the novelty "Hey Shirley (This is Squirrely)" by (who else) Shirley and Squirrely. Now ... THERE HAD BETTER BE A 1971 SHOW NEXT WEEK, OR I'll RAISE YOU KNOW WHAT!!!Brian

Or at the very least ... a 1970 program. (Aug. 8, 1970 isn't a bad week. Not one of those must-hear shows, but still a good program.) Still would leave us with Aug. 14, 1971 in the offing.

I hate to break it to you but they haven't played a 1970 show yet either. That's why I have SXM. They played a 1971 show in late May....had a lot of great songs on it. That Diana Ross cover of Reach Out I'll be There gave my goosebumps to name one.

Well, it's still early enough among the eligible months for 1970 that I'm not overly concerned. It's that year 1971 that I worry about, especially since someone claimed that Premiere might shy away from that year for a few weeks because of the Tom Clay song.

A couple of things to mention: 1. This week's countdown has one of Hervard's favorite songs at #1. 2. Briguy, tell us how you really feel about not having a '70 or '71 countdown this weekend. Anyway, predictions for the extras: DEVIL WOMAN-Cliff Richard ONE-Three Dog Night (original AT40 extra) STILL THE ONE-Orleans

Speaking of one of Hervard's fave songs , does anyone remember how in the top 100 of 1983 which I heard part of recently, AT40 cut out the second verse of Too Shy? It was that way when I heard it originally so I know it was not a Premiere edit.

I'm with ya BriGuy. I would love to hear 1970 or 1971, if just to hear the "Cats" theme.
(When did they stop playing that, anyway?)

As far as next week's show is concerned, here are two possibilities:8/8/70 which featured the Billboard "Hot 100" from 8/15/70 or 8/7/71-The latter date was the weekend that I turned 13-Talk about a blast from the past!
