Predicted extras:
* "Delta Dawn" by Helen Reddy. * "Let's Get it On" by Marvin Gaye. * and even though it NEVER made the top 40 ... "Roll Over Beethoven" by the Electric Light Orchestra.
Backup: "Gypsy Man" by War (or it could be the other "Gypsy" song, the one made famous by Tony Orlando and Dawn).

Amazing ... this week's 1980 show keeps all three Archive songs that rarely get played anymore on oldies/super hits stations that usually play AT40: The 80s (even if they are iconic songs like "I'm Sorry" by Brenda Lee or "It's Now or Never" by Elvis Presley). Certainly, Brian Hyland's "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini" hasn't been played on oldies stations for at least 10 years. And last week's 70s show from 1979 demotes to an optional extra a song ("Nothing From Nothing" by Billy Preston) that is standard fare at the oldies/super hits stations. How weird is that???!!! Brian

briguy--Most oldies stations don't play anything before 1964. It seemed like Dick Clark's Rock Roll and Remember (before it went off the air) was the only station that would occasionally play late 50's and early 60's. I have listened for years to Dick Bartley's transformations Sold Gold Scrapbook, American Gold and Classic Countdown, and Dick is not playing anything before 1966 any longer---and that is depressing, so much good music from the early 60's!!!

Brian Some all night, dawn-seeking spirit will help you with the song title of the 3rd hour extra. No, not the Helen Reddy song. No, not the group. (The 1st and 2nd hour extras may be Delta Dawn and/or Tony Orlando. The hint is for hour #3.)

(#64 on the Hot 100 that week; like an increasing number of recent OE's, it missed the top 40 but is widely known and played today.) I'll also guess "Let's Get It On" (Marvin Gaye) and "Delta Dawn" (Helen Reddy).

Predictions for next weekend's show...well we are on one of those loooong 1976 droughts again--seems like there have been a few of those on either SXM or Premiere over the last year. Tough week to guess because other than '73, pretty much every other year is in play and could feasibly be aired, though '78 (7/29/78 was played last year) and '79 (just played last week) seem the most unlikely after '73. I am not ready to guess a 1970 just yet...sometime in August maybe?
First guess: 7/31/76 Second guess: 7/30/77

Brian WHNN has opted to play that same 1980 show this weekend, so you'll need to wait for WKIX to post the Premiere cue sheet.
