I just am noticing that Ring My Bell is a slightly longer version than the 45 single. I am so glad to have AT 40 the 70s on the radio, as Hampton Roads now has it on Magic 105.3!!!

7/24/1971 show starts it's 7 week run of Tom Clay's "What the World Needs Now is Love (Abraham, Martin and John). The fine folks from Premiere maybe avoiding of running these shows due to the content. SXM maybe a different nature because I did hear the song in it's regular programing. In the show Casey explains that he was 'dethroned' by Tom Clay when he in the Detroit market. It hasn't been in a show for either of the past two years, but 8/7 and 9/4 have both aired. I noticed from the shows run list that '71 was last run in April, so I have a feeling it'll be in the next '71 show that comes up.

kinda sad tale there about Lennon not joing the other Beatles for he was busy writing and recording his comeback album, which we all now know as DOUBLE FANTASY and his assassination which followed. I visited NYC in September of 1979 when I was 16 and went to the Dakota to try and meet John Lennon. He wasn't there and the doorman told me that he and Yoko were in Japan and had been for most of the year. So he was probably in Japan when Eric Clapton got married. Clapton and Boyd were married on March 27th of '79. Eric threw the party on May 19th. Lennon didn't attend because he wasn't invited. Pattie confirmed this in an interview in 2004: "I did feel remorseful afterwards that I hadn't invited John to our wedding party. But I knew he wouldn't come. He was living in America at the time and the authorities were threatening not to allow him back in if he left the country."Lennon reportedly said that he would have attended had he been invited.

A couple peculiarities about this show.....usually Premiere edits the #40 song under the theory that people will tune in late and miss the edited first song. This time, with the #33 song serving as the first song, they did not edit it....Weekend. They had to eliminate one of the archives songs from even optional extra consideration and chose Rock Me Gently I suppose because between Andy Kim, ONJ and Billy Preston, he is the least known. And you end up hearing the 2 archive songs back to back.

Yeah, that back-to-back archive thing was really strange. I wondered if the station mis-placed the segment for a second.

Patti Boyd has her years mixed up. John received his green card in 1976. In 1979 he was free to travel to and from the USA. Sadly, he was supposed to become a US citizen in early 1981 not long after he was assassinated.

upland1425: 8 am sundays. extras are usually included, but today, due to time restraints one of the extras was left off, as well as one of the archives (nothing from nothing). the signal is not bad, but i live in virginia beach where it comes in fine, but can barely get the signal in hampton, where i work.

Yeah, that back-to-back archive thing was really strange. I wondered if the station mis-placed the segment for a second. Editing the show last night, I just stuck the Billy Preston archive back in it's proper spot. Kind of weird they chose that as one of the OE's, but didn't put it at the end of the 3rd hour (after "We Are Family").

wahoo.....here is the deal on that.....by taking it out of the regular spot, it means Pre did not have to edit any songs in that hour. The time that needed to be edited in the second hour was all used on the archive song. Same thing happened last week with It's Too Late taken out of the spot it was in and inserted instead as an OE. Means they can leave the countdown songs alone in the hour that the extra/archive song was in.

I guess what I was getting at was that if they were going to use "Nothing From Nothing" as an OE, why not have it as the OE at the end of hour #3 (hour#2 in the Premier airing) - during the commercial break between "We Are Family" and "The Logical Song"? Just seems like it would have made more sense since that was right after where it would have been placed in the original show. Then you wouldn't have had two archive songs right in a row...
