I completely forgot about that special countdown from 10/6/73. How I wish they would play it--The Top 40 Recording Acts of 1955 to 1973. What a great show that would be. It is a countdown, but I am thinking that it is preferred to be a countdown from a specific week instead.

Keep the good people of Brevard,North Carolina and all in the southeast hit by the hurricane/storm. Brevard home of WSQL has been hit pretty hard.

It is a countdown, but I am thinking that it is preferred to be a countdown from a specific week instead. That was an AT40 special that had been slightly updated from a May 1971 broadcast, containing most of the same artists. However, unique to the 1973 edition was, in place of playing two Beatles singles as was done in 1971, Casey presented an exclusive 13-minute mix of various Fab Four tracks. According to Rob Durkeeās book, Tom Rounds and Lee Hansen spent three days compiling the montage. And although it would be a great program to air one more time, unfortunately, the music demographic in this special is now outside of most radio formats.

WVWP is playing 8/14/1976 for the umpteenth time. They played this last Saturday. WVWP used to dependably play the A show on Saturday and the B show on Sunday (if there was one). Now it's all over the map. WVWP aired 9/23/1972 today, which is the correct show when there is not a B show available.

Even sadder that 1973 won't be featured this week. It could pay tribute to Kris Kristofferson with "Why Me" currently in the Top 40 this week in 1973. It is one of those rare songs that for its ranking for the year was higher than its weekly chart peak.

Brevard which was the starting point of a 100 kilometer bike ride I rode earlier this yesr was spared the worst. But I also bicycled in an area that was not. That place in and around Hot Springs got 18" of rain.* And it was woolebull that once reminded us that the setting for the Dirty Dancing movie was Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The latter had a village of about 10 buildings that were completely destroyed by the river that flows into the lake. *I just read that 31" is the highest total recorded in those mountains from this hurricane.

For this coming weekend with hints: 10/3/1970 or 10/10/1970 is the A show and 10/7/1978 (first AT40 4 hour show) is the B show - or could this be the other way around with 1978 as the A and 1970 as the B?

Stranger things have happened in this series. But I would bet a lot money that 1978 is the A show. If it's the B show, that would mean the A show drought would continue for another 3 or 4 weeks.

Actually: Either 10/2/1971 or 10/7/1978 is the A entry with the other being the B entry.
