Was that a weird edit on Marvin's "I Want You", or what?
But otherwise, a terrific Hour One, with only a couple of overplayed big hits. Especially liked the segment with the 3 ballads: Frankie Valli's lovely "Fallen Angel", used very effectively in the stage version of Jersey Boys, Paul Anka's "Anytime" and Elvis' cover of Timi Yuro's "Hurt".

Hey, you told me not to be a stranger! I had to look up old posts to remember my handle! In quarantine it's natural to try and reunite with old friends! Still plugging away at WODC. The big thing I'm missing of course is being able to present AT40. Can't tell you how much I miss those days of doing up to four different countdowns some holiday weekends. Anyway, not sure if I'm in the right spot here but had an AT4070s question. Listening right now on SiriusXM to 5/6/72. Has it been a regular thing on that channel to skip a song? I was listening to #36 Walking In The Rain With The One I Love by Love Unlimited, then it skipped to #34 Nice To Be with You by Gallery. The song at #35 by April Wine did come up somewhere around where #31 would be. I have the app, so the display shows each individual song vs "AT40/Date" like in the older days. Wouldn't that make it harder to record the whole program on the Stiletto? Just wondering. While I'm at it, with it being the 50th anniversary of AT40 has anyone heard of any plans to air the first show in July? Hello to all! Stay safe!

Yes you are correct that XM "edits" have been pretty sloppy recently. More often than not they do as you described and either move songs to different locations in the countdown or they cut them out completely.

Glad you're back Mike...and yes Ken Martin is working on the first AT40 show for the 50th anniversary.

This is the third time in the last month that Sirius XM has played AT40 segments out of order. To paraphrase Casey on another subject, they do this to us all the time. I don't know what the hell they do it for but g**d*** it if they can't play the show in order. I just don't understand it.

Great! One of the few shows that I remember hearing "Union Man" by the Cate Brothers. Looking forward to the White Squirrel this evening.... Ditto for the song that precedes it on this week's show, Al Wilson's final top 40 appearance, "I've Got a Feeling". Neither record got local airplay in my area, so I only heard both on AT40. Good to hear them again. The Al Wilson is wonderful and very much in the same bag as Lou Rawls' "You'll Never Find..." which came after it on the chart but was much bigger.

Am I alone in liking Billy Ocean's sole '70s hit, "Love Really Hurts Without You", more than any of his many '80s smashes? It's the only Billy Ocean 45 I ever bought. Love the production on it--it has that Carolina beach music 'sound'. Not alone. I love that song.

When is the next possible AT40: The 70's 1971 date that could honor Betty Wright, who just passed away at age 66, with her 1971 song "Clean Up Woman" as an OPTIONAL EXTRA?

I would say that we have a very good pairing of 70's shows this weekend. Each of them feature a couple of my favorite slow jams of all time-"Betcha By Golly Wow" by The Stylistics from 1972 and also "Reunited" by Peaches & Herb from 1979. I'm also looking forward to hearing "Someday Never Comes" by CCR-their last Top 40 hit. I feel that song was a bit underrated.
