I pronounce it with the short 'u', but you are correct that many use the short 'e'. Most Americans, like me, will say "berried." The "burried" pronunciation is very common in places like New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Is that where you're from, mga707? Delaware. But have lived in Southern AZ for 60 years.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 5/5/73 2nd Guess - 5/3/75
Has to be 1973 'A' show for the first time since January, right? Neither one of these shows has been played in a really long time, though I guess 5/5/73 did get a 'B' show spin in 2016. Everyone is probably hoping for 5/24/75 now that we're only down to a handful of unplayed shows left?

Six - although five of them would be played this year, as two of them (late 1979) are from consecutive weeks. There are also the few four-hour shows that were played before the optional first hour was offered, starting in 2012. There are seven of those left.

They could play 5/24/75 and it wouldn't be too long before or close to 8/2/75--another of the last unplayed batch. Similarly, 1979 should come due in late June, just in time for the untouched 6/23/79.
8/19/72 is another unplayed one I can think of, but we should get a 1972 A show at least once before August.

And what would be played on AT40: The 70's this year or next year? 11/24/1979 or 12/1/1979? - find out in several months! I also hope 8/19/1972 also gets played on AT40: The 70's this year.

Outside of the 4-hour era starting in October 1978, the only unplayed Casey-hosted weekly countdowns are the three you mentioned (8/19/72, 5/24/75, and 8/2/75). And like you say, no reason all of those shouldn't be able to be played this year. 1972 is due to be played any week now, which means it could wait until August for the next spin after that. Hopefully we get to hear "One Of These Nights" at #1 in August as well...

I'm hoping for December 1, 1979 - namely because, in somewhat of a protest of them passing over the 11/24 show in favor of the one from the week before, I did a critique for the former. I was going to do one for December 1 of this year regardless of whether or not they went with that one, but since I was using the scoped version of the show that is no longer available on YouTube, that blows that out of the water. My ideal 1979 scenario of this year would be to play April 14 (already done), June 23, August 18 (only done in three-hour format at this point), and either November 24 or December 1. In between, 1979 could be used as a "B" offering once or twice. As for the other three shows from 1972 & 1975, I definitely hope that we get those this year.

The original show features the normal outro jingle to close out segment 3, but then that outro jingle is heard again to kick off segment 4, followed by the intro jingle. (So if you heard segment 4 in hours 1 and 2, or to lead off side 1B and 2B on the original LPs, that is what you'd hear.) The third and fourth hours didn't have those errors.

No. I meant that everyone thought that they were delaying 1979 for as long as they were so they could play the 11/24 show, only to find out that November 17 was the one they went with. As far as I know, there were never any plans for the November 24 show. What I did was to listen to the scoped version of the show that used to be up on YouTube and made a commentary for it: at40fg.proboards.com/thread/1093/chart-critiques?page=383 (my second to last post on the page).

If 11/24 or 12/1 is on the schedule this year, I'm looking at September 1979. Out of the five shows, two were guest-hosted, so that leaves three. Only one show was played over the last 5 years (9/1 in 2018), so one of the other two (9/15, 9/22) could possibly be repeated this year to set up a potential new airing of 11/24 or 12/1.

I'm getting positively giddy over the upcoming '71 show. Just LOVE the really early AT40s. I don't get too excited for the early 70's shows since they were before my time. But this show is quite good -- a number of classic hits and/or artists, and some really good original extras (though "Mule Train" is rather odd to put it lightly). One of the highlights for me--Casey is in full "groovy Casey" mode with his intro to #25: "Chick-a-Boom, Chick-a-Boom..." -- just fantastic Yeah, the early-70's shows are oftentimes boring. I could not imagine being..."giddy"...about them. ?

I probably feel much less warmth for the music of your youth, but I understand why you would feel differently and would not make snide remarks about your preferences. Can't you do the same?
