I know someone on here who'll love that ^ pairing. Two years I enjoy very much. Going to guess it will be hard to find an airing of the "b" show though.

Enjoying the 2/5/77 show on KLFM. Lots of pleasant memories of that time, my first year at the U of A(rizona). Funny how the two worst songs bookend the countdown. At least Ray Stevens' chickens are kind of funny, although I would quickly tire of hearing them after a couple of spins. The #1 song, though, is just plain AWFUL. Hated it then, opinion has not changed 43 years later.

Among the several notable stories and segments in the 2/5/77 show are Casey's tribute to the two blind men who worked the boards at their radio station when AT40 was playing, ensuring it ran on time and smoothly. That's a talent literally lost on many radio stations today which rely on automatic play and downloads, and as a result at some stations with this and many other shows we get mistakes, such as starting too early or late, missing or repeated segments, the incorrect show airing, etc.

I got bits and pieces of the 1977 show on KLFM due to a long phone conversation, but I caught the Ace Frehley electrocution story in which would become an inspiration to the Kiss song "Shock Me" off of the Love Gun album released later on in 1977.

That's good news. Thanks for the update. (I take it the on demand links are still gone, though.)

This week's optional extras:
February 6, 1971:
Hour #1: "My Love" - Petula Clark (NR--#1 that week in 1966) Hour #2: "What Is Life" - George Harrison (NR) Hour #3: "I Wanna Be Around" - Tony Bennett (original AT40 extra)
Extras by Dean Martin ("Memories Are Made of This") and Donovan ("Sunshine Superman") stay in the show. Deleted was George Harrison's "Apple Scruffs", a cut from that week's #1 album "All Things Must Pass"; apparently it was replaced here by the better-known "What Is Life".
February 9, 1974:
Hour #1: "I Want To Hold Your Hand" - The Beatles (original AT40 extra) Hour #2: "Sunshine On My Shoulders" - John Denver (#51) Hour #3: "She's Gone" - Daryl Hall & John Oates (#96; debuted)
Stevie Wonder's "Fingertips", an extra from the original broadcast, stays in place. This is one of the relatively few shows from about fall 1972 to fall 1975 that originally featured non-countdown extras, probably to make up for the fact that Casey only played one of the two charting versions of "The Americans".

Interesting that they decided to change around the extras so much, especially the George Harrison cut; "Apple Scruffs" was played as an OE the last time this show aired in 2012. Back then, Tom Jones' "She's a Lady" (voiced by Larry Morgan) was the 3rd hour extra after "Sunshine Superman" (1st Hour) and "Apple Scruffs" (2nd Hour). So it looks like the Petula Clark cut will be a manufactured Casey-voiced extra, and Tony Bennett and Donovan switch places.
