This countdown uses the Billboard chart instead of the one calculated by the AT40 staff. Great job! A couple of questions, how come the bumpers get cut off on the stream? Mid way thru Casey’s tease it goes into a commercial. Also, I found the Billboard Top 100 singles of 1973 on Wikipedia, numbers 76 and 77, 56 and 57 and 36 and 37 are flipped from what’s on the show. Obviously Wikipedia can be wrong and usually is, but it’s weirder how it’s those positions that are flipped and everything else is correct. Not criticizing, just curious. From the 'Billboard' archive site: #36--Danny's Song #37--Dancing In the Moonlight #56--Live and Let Die #57--Oh Babe, What Would You Say? #76--Do You Want To Dance? #77--So Very Hard To Go Did not get a chance to hear the re-created show, so not sure if these are how they were aired, but this is how they ranked in 'Billboard'.

1/8/72 was aired exactly 10 years ago, and these were the optional extras: Hour #1: "Without You" - Nilsson Hour #2: "Precious And Few" - Climax Hour #3: "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" - Robert John I'll go with: "Without You" "Brighter" "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

A year ago I would have said Hoggy was a slam dunk, but lately they have been doing more early 70s 'A' shows. It would be nice if Ken/WTOJ gave us a supersized version instead of the chopped up mess these early 78 shows are. Just saw that KOKZ is going with 1978 next weekend.

In 1972,Atlantic Records released a second volume of "All In The Family" highlights from season 2 including such memorable moments as "Archie Meets Mike" & the episode where Archie's TV set conks out prior to a news anchor asking Archie his opinion of Richard Nixon.

I used to own that LP as well as the first one. That one had many bits from 'classic' episodes. Also had a bit of the Archie/Maude episode on it. Was not nearly the hit that the first one was, peaking at #129 (as opposed to #8) in early 1973, with 8 weeks on the top LPs chart (as opposed to 22 wks.).

From what I've heard so far I can confirm the show flipped "Do You Want To Dance?" and "So Very Hard To Go." Incidentally, I didn't expect Bette Midler would have two songs in the top 80.

While 'Do You Want To Dance?' peaked nine 'notches' lower than 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy'--#17 vs #8--both songs spent the same number of weeks in the Hot 100, 16. This undoubtedly helped 'Dance' in the year-end ranking. Fun factoid: Midler, Del Shannon, and the artist who first hit with the tune. Bobby Freeman, went with the more formal 'Want To' in the song title, while The Beach Boys, The Mamas and The Papas, and The Ramones went with the grammatically incorrect but more accurate 'Wanna' in the title.

So did anyone notice that the last two weekly countdowns of 2019 were 1972 and 1978...and the first two weekly countdowns of 2020 are...1972 and 1978! Pretty sure that's never happened before in the 13 years of the series. This includes the same year bookending the year-end countdown (12/16/72 and 1/8/72 in this case), but believe it or not that has happened before--12/18/71 and 1/16/71 bookended the 1978 Top 100 at the end of the series' first year in 2007-08. Granted, those two countdowns won't have a single song in common, but still somewhat of an oddity. Better than a year ago when the 1/10/76 show was the very next weekly countdown after 12/20/75--those two shows had around 25 songs in common IIRC...

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 1/22/77 2nd Guess - 1/18/75
Flip a coin for either one of these--these two might happen in the next two weeks. Neither show has aired since 2011 (in fact 1/18/75 hasn't even aired on SXM since then), and both years are in the midst of long dry spells.

I'll go with: "Without You" "Brighter" "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" And these are the 3 extras for January 8, 1972, in this order. Who did "Brighter"? EDIT: I think I figured it out, it's a track from Carole King's album Music.
