When 8/31/1974 last aired in 2013, these were the extras... "Jazzman," Carole King "Kings Of The Party," Brownsville Station "One Hell Of A Woman," Mac Davis I'm not expecting any switches. dL Dale, you’re right – no switches for 8/31/74. And here are the extras for the #1 Hits of the 70s composite: Hour #1: Randy Newman’s “Short People” Hour #2: The Village People’s “YMCA” Hour #3: Donna Summer’s “Dim All The Lights” Hour #4: Earth Wind & Fire’s “After The Love Has Gone”

I tuned in a little before 5pm yesterday to catch the show following AT40 for 08-27-77. I heard #2 and #1 for that AT40 countdown and then the entire show that ran from 5pm-9pm with no problems. So I guess WPNC stream not working might not be result of facing debts threats or something. Maybe there has been some time to time WPNC usually goes off stream for several hours or something.

Actually, they had 60 days, not 30, so they have until September 12 or so (the notice was printed on July 14) to get it settled. oh... that's right. Sorry for miscounting

Survived the three and a half minutes of audio torture at #39 and now can enjoy the rest of the show--love this era of music, mostly!

Does anyone know which stations, if any, will be airing the bonus show, #1 Hits of the 1970s Part 6, this weekend?

Wrong chart peak position given for the first hour extra: "Jazzman" almost became Carole King's second #1 single, peaking at #2, not #9 as stated.

Excellent! An early show plus one of the last 3-hour shows. Looking forward.

I'm curious---do you also consider that week's #1 song by Mr. Anka audio torture? We all know LOTS of people would describe it as such. (And, yes, I agree with you on #39. The Alice Bowie part is mildly amusing, but the father/son spoken segment is obnoxious and disturbing.)

It's interesting that Whitburn tagged a "novelty" label on "Basketball Jones" by Cheech & Chong, and categorized their other two Top 40 hits as "comedy." Obviously, the comedic spoken word portions helped make that distinction. Just curious if anyone has compiled a list of all Top 40 entries from the 70s into Whitburn's assigned genres of instrumental, novelty, comedy, spoken word and foreign language. And a similar list from the 80s would be a really insightful comparison of changes in record buying and radio airplay.

There's a distinct 'buzz' in KLFM's normally-decent stream tonight.
