As a little kid Run Joey Run scared the hell out of me. As I got older it just confused me. The line says “All at once I saw him there sneaking up behind me” How did you see him sneak up behind you?? My question has always been what happened after the story in the song ends? What was that conversation like between the dad and Joey who is holding the dead Julie?

IMO, Run Joey Run was a throwback to the songs in the early to mid 60's, the so called death songs. Tell Laura I Love Her, Last Kiss, Leader Of the Pack, etc. The song reached #1 on the Cash Box chart probably based on sales to teenage kids that bought it at the time but after it reached the top of the charts it dropped like a rock (as many novelty songs do). Of course, most novelty songs also don't stand the test of time, and that explains why most stations don't play them (much) once they exit the charts.

A few countdowns to look forward to in the next month or so... WINNER -- July 27, 2019 - July 28, 1973 (stand alone)WINNER -- August 10, 2019 - August 9, 1975 (stand alone)WINNER -- August 17, 2019 (adjusted broadcast date) - August 21, 1971 (the A show)With Peteski already spilling the beans next week, the 'B' show has to be 1977, right? Other potential pairings 74, 75, and 76 have all been played to death recently. I'm sure you meant to ask, "The "B" show has to be 1976, right?"

I'm sure you meant to ask, "The "B" show has to be 1976, right?" So perhaps that means that 1977 is coming up the week of August 24? Both of the last two shows from August, 1977 are both ripe for repeats (as it's been at least six years since both of them were played).

No doubt about that..."Run Joey Run" is a song I really never need to hear again. Ranks up there with "Playground In My Mind". The others are two of my more favorite songs from the late summer/early fall of '75. And at the same time that Joey's girlfriend takes her Dad's bullet for him, we were also assaulted with "Rocky". SO many dead wives and girlfriends in the fall of '75! ...and then dead dogs in 1976 drifting out to sea. I LOVE LOVE John Denver. I didn't truly appreciate him when I was 10. The lyric that opens Rocky Mountain High, to me, is one of the greatest opening lines.

A pair of forgotten gems and a classic hits staple are my predictions:
* “Easy Loving” — Freddie Hart. (Remembering the stalwart who died almost a year ago, his lone top 40 hit as a sizable one at that.) * “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep” — Mac and Kate Kisson. * “Maggie May” — Rod Stewart. (A week away from cracking the Top 40, and when “Reason To Believe” was still the A-side.)

Casey said that the Top 3 songs from the first week of August 1975 were by three British artists--Olivia Newton-John, 10 cc and the Bee Gees--which matched the fact that the Top 3 from 10 years earlier (first week of August 1965); were also by three British acts--Herman's Hermits, The Rolling Stones & Tom Jones. However reading it that way implies that Herman's Hermits was @ #3, the Stones at #2 and Tom Jones @#1; while in fact, Tom was at 3 and Herman's Hermits was at #1--which might have been a little confusing to anyone that wouldn't have had access to the Billboard chart from that first week of August 1965. It is possible that whoever wrote that little tid bit for Casey to read should have done a better job of keeping the artists in the correct order--or--maybe I'm just making a big deal out of nothing.

I assumed (correctly) that he listed them 1-2-3 rather than the other way around.

In his intro to "It Only Takes A Minute",Larry Morgan stated that Tavares is from Rhode Island-That's incorrect-They're from New Bedford,Massachusetts.

An interesting piece of trivia regarding Three Dog Night's final top 40 entry from this week "Till The World Ends"-It was written by Dave Loggins who had written another song that TDN charted with in early 1973-It was called "Pieces Of April".Of course,Loggins had a huge hit this week in 1974 with the unforgettable "Please Come To Boston".
