The 07.28.73 show sounded surprisingly good. And though it was originally (mostly) broadcast in stereo - I'm wondering if Ken Martin still did his magic and replaced the original songs with crisp sounding versions?

I like the full-page ad for “Rubber Duckie” on page 15. There’s also an ad for AT40 on page 49. You can call Tom Rounds collect at (213) 659–3834.

"Rubber Duckie" reached the top twenty in September 1970-A certifiable guilty pleasure.

The only differences I detected was that the opening and closing AT40 themes were converted to stereo as were the jingles inside the countdown. Songs appeared the same to me. Ken did not get an opening credit for mono2stereo conversion, but he did get a "digitally re-mastered" credit at the end along with Shannon. Most of the songs were already stereo in the original countdown. It was a excellent re-mastering. This weeks show will be the premiere "mono2stereo" conversion of 8/01/70 show and should be a real blast!

Wasn't AT40 already being broadcast in stereo by July 1973? Why would there need to be a mono2stereo conversion of a show that's already in stereo?

Interesting to note that the show from 8/9/75 aired one day after I turned seventeen & that one of the featured songs that week was "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian.

Decent song--probably wouldn't have have liked it as a kid, but it's a well done composition and does a good job capturing the point of view of the song's subject.

I'm thinking that WPAC will air 8/3/74 this weekend-They tend to avoid the earlier shows.

On the countdown from 8/3/74,Casey read a QL (Question Letter) from a listener who asked about the biggest drop a song took from the number one position-The answer was "The Sounds Of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel which had gone to # 1 for a week in January 1966-It fell to # 2 & then returned to # 1 before dropping to # 12. In late 1974,two songs were tied for taking a bigger plunge from the number one spot-They were "Nothing From Nothing" by Billy Preston & "Then Came You" by Dionne Warwick & The Spinners-They both dropped from # 1 all the way down to # 15.

KOKZ airing 1970 in the midst of a "Yacht Rock Weekend". Maybe they should have waited on that until next weekend, as its 1980 countdown fits that theme about as well as any can.
And Waterloo Bucks baseball with beer for a "buck" and hotdogs for $1.50? Count me in--if I were anywhere near there.
