(cue Wayne and Garth) EXCELLENT!!!!!!! So you are playing your own 45's and not the actual audio from the AT40 episode ? Just wanted to clarify that for some of us purists Songs that were not edited were not replaced. Songs which had been edited will be replaced with new audio from the stations collection.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 10/6/79 2nd Guess - 10/7/72
This show makes the most sense by far of any available shows...of course it doesn't mean that's what Premiere will air. 1979 hasn't been aired since late July and other than '72 and '79, there aren't really any other shows that would work.

My optional extra predictions for the 9/30/78 show: * "Strange Way" by Firefall * "I Just Wanna Stop" by Gino Vanelli * "Sharing The Night Together" by Dr. Hook Besides 10/6 & 10/13/79 being available as new shows, these shows are also new according to the AT40Fan website: 1970: 10/3 1972: 10/21 & 10/28 ("My Ding-A-Ling" by Chuck Berry was #1 for both of those weeks) 1973: 10/6 (special show) 1974: 10/26 1975: 10/4 (special show) & 10/18 1977: 10/22 1978: 10/21 & 10/28 (but we're getting 9/30/78 this weekend so these appear very unlikely) 1979: 10/6, 10/13 & 10/27 10/3/70 was aired the first weekend in October a year ago. 10/2/76 hasn't been aired, but it's also a special. Same with 10/11/75, since it was guest hosted by Wink Martindale.

The same artist is at #2 in both shows....with his first and second #1 hits a week later. This current week finishes off 10 different years for the 'A' shows in 10 weeks. Started with a 1979 show. They would not do the same thing over the next 10 weeks would they?

They would not do the same thing over the next 10 weeks would they? At least it would be an even rotation. But some years may not be heard as B's in that time; if Premiere continues to do as it's done the last few years, then for much of November and December Christmas countdowns will be the B's (both Casey's 1970s AT40 Christmas specials and his 2000s AT10s.)

Matt, You get a Jim Rome Show "Rack em' ding ding ding" on that one! Right on the money with your prediction. I am happy that I get to hear "Driver's Seat" by Sniff n' The Tears and others that year. Another two weeks and that song would've been off the 40. BTW, I'm sorry that I got Matt and Mike confused with one another especially at 2am in the morning ! Kudos to both of you!

My optional extra predictions for the 10/6/79 show:
* "Still" by The Commodores * "Heartache Tonight" by The Eagles * "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac * "Rainbow Connection" by The Muppets (picking this one because they have a new TV show on ABC)
Not much chart movement on this show... 9 of the Top 18 songs hold steady, and 13 of the bottom 22 songs move up two or three notches. Also, there are only three songs below the Top 10 which would become future Top 10 songs. Three other songs between #11 and #40 had hit the Top 10. Meanwhile, a total of 15 songs between #11 and #40 would peak in the teens.

Premiere played the 9/30/78 show previously in 2008, when Ed McMann introed it and the optional extras. This was the first time it was aired with Larry Morgan doing that, and he noted at the start of the countdown that it was the last three hour show, something that Casey did not do.
The last hour, especially, has several songs presented in a manner that shows why AT40 believed an expansion to four hours was a good idea, even if the early four hour shows often seemed padded. Ken Martin, as noted, has produced a version of this week's show without the editing, and presumably without filler extras as well.

I'd probably venture to say that KOKZ will give us the full 4 hours of the 10-6-79 show.
