Wonder if we'll get a special July 4 show next week; with the holiday in the middle of the week, it could have been either this week or next.
For 6/25/77, I'll predict these extras: "Barracuda"-Heart "Best of My Love"-Emotions "Give a Little Bit"-Supertramp

I do believe this is at least the third – and possibly the fourth – time we've heard June 25, 1977. Must be one of those "requisite" programs with lots of good material and what not.
Anyway, it appears the extras may be different, and if so, I'll predict them thusly (and what Larry Morgan might say):
• "Barracuda" by Heart. (First release from their second album, "Little Queen," by a band, led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, that was diverse in their styles, from ballads to hard rock. This song represents the hard rock side of ... Heart.) • "Telephone Line" by the Electric Light Orchestra. (The dial tone effects were achieved by calling a number in the United States that band members knew nobody would answer, listening for awhile, then recreating the sound on a Moog synthesizer.) • "Way Down" by Elvis Presley. (His last hit in his lifetime; incidentally, No. 1 on the country chart the same week of his death (week of Aug. 20, 1977).)
There are a a couple of great backup ideas, and the one I'll pick – yep, it's country – is (along with Larry Morgan talking) ...
* "It Was Almost Like a Song" by Ronnie Milsap. (Second week on the Hot 100, at No. 80 this week, on its way to an eventual No. 16 peak in September. The song was entering the top 10 of the country chart this week, and would be Ronnie's first three-week No. 1 song by the end of July, and the title of his autobiography.)

I thought for sure it was going to be 6/29/74 based on Pete's hint. I wonder why Pete put those question marks after 2 then in his clue?

Brian Brian, as one who keeps track of all the 70s shows played (at least on terrestrial radio), I'm showing this is the first time this particular show has been played. Do you have any information on what others times the show was played?

And actually I would've preferred to hear 6-29-74 over 6-25-77. The "TWO??" was just how I'd envision a Casey Kasem response to the hint, similar to... "Listen for the countdown tomorrow morning at two...TWO???"

Brian You are definitely correct on that one. That show was actually heard 3 years in a row - from 2007-2009.

Predictions:
Telephone Man - Meri Wilson: one of the few (if only) solo woman to have a Top 40 novelty hit.
Barracuda - Heart: heard in the "Charlie's Angels" movie.
Uptown Festival - Shalamar: years before Jody Watley would have a solo hit.

Factual error in the '73 countdown:
Casey calls Gladys Knight & The Pips "a Detroit group." In fact, they were from Atlanta.

I'm glad it is the 6/25/77 show. I can replace my XM-edited version from last year with the one played this weekend.

The "TWO??" was just how I'd envision a Casey Kasem response to the hint, similar to... "Listen for the countdown tomorrow morning at two...TWO???" Was that from a WCFL promo he did (except for the "TWO???" part)?
