What I can't figure out is why they ran this 1973 show this week that was played just 2 years ago when there is a show with the exact same date from 1979 that has never been played. Now they are not doing a 1979 show for at least 3 more weeks. Sorry the disco special cannot be counted as a 1979 show when only a handful of songs are from that year. There is not a single special in AT40 history that can be counted toward any given year's total of shows played. Simply put, they don't count and are just a break from the weekly shows being run.

Glad I recorded my copy of this week's show (6/21/75) last year when it was broadcast by the Premiere Radio Network. Because in my copy, I got hear Casey answer the question "Has any member of a group, while he was still a member, ever have a solo hit in the Top 10 at the same time that his group had a hit in the Top 10?". That question was mentioned between song #38 and #39. Of course, XM edited out that question. Have no idea why.

SXM edits out ALL questions regardless!

Because the 1979 shows are offered in the 4-hour format, stations need some time to plan ahead in their schedule. I seem to recall reading that there would be four 1979 programs this year with the next coming in August (may have been Mike Eiland's blog, but please don't quote me).

CKWS is determined to make a liar out of me re: their dependability. Started late, and here on commercial break, they replay 'Little Willie' {sigh}

Who was it here who wanted to hear "And I Love You So"? Sounded like an edited version.
I hope Perrry Como's A&R guy got a HUGE bonus for hipping him to that -- a perfect pairing of singer and song. Really lovely. Amazing Sinatra didn't think of doing it first.

Mike as far as I've found hasn't mentioned any 4-hr shows apart from the first one Premiere officially offered in April.

A quick word about last week's show-Hearing The Beatles debut with "Got To Get You Into My Life" reminded me of a sketch that ran during the first season of "Saturday Night Live"-Executive producer Lorne Michaels offered The Beatles a check for $3,000.00 in return for an appearance on the show-Of course the reunion never materialized but George Harrison was the musical guest on the Thanksgiving show from November 1976.

SXM edits out ALL questions regardless! Speaking of questions, it's interesting how in this week's June 1973 show Casey answered a question about 6 #1's in 6 weeks in 1964. Less than two years later (from Jan.-Apr. 1975), there would be 14 straight weeks with different #1's each week. I also liked how, in the 6/23/73 countdown, Casey noted George Harrison's "Living In the Material World" knocked Paul McCartney & Wings' "Red Rose Speedway" off the top of the album chart, in light of the fact that George displaced Paul from the top of the singles chart the following week. That was not mentioned as one of the possibilities in the AT40 staff's official predictions (they thought that Paul's "My Love" would stay on top.)

Casey was impressed with how Bette Midler, by way of multi-tracking, was able to sing three-part harmony in the same style as the Andrews Sisters. Well, for comparison, here's a clip with two different versions of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by Patty, Maxine and Laverne. The latter sounds closer to The Divine Miss M! www.youtube.com/watch?v=snq_1viqBHM

Here's a hint for next weekend's 70s program from Premiere... There are two new songs (TWO??) in that week's Top 10. When reviewing charts for this hint, I accidentally looked at the 6-23-79 program, which had two new songs in the Top 10. It doesn't really matter though because, to the dismay of some, next week's show is not from 1979. However, there's at least 2 other shows for you to consider until jdelachjr2002 makes his Sunday posting later.

I am making the assumption that we are talking about the last week of June as this coming weekend has the last day of June and first day of July, but assuming that it is June, here goes: 71 had 2, 72 had 1, 73 had 2 but we just heard that show so NO WAY, 74 had 3, 75 had 1, 76 had 1, 77 had 2, and 78 had 3. Choices narrowed down to 71 or 77. Gonna guess 77 since 71 was played more recently.

I'm going to guess there will be no special countdown airing this year. At least on the 70s show.

And in between 73 and 75, that being 74 is what many believe is the beginning of the disco era (or as others say--disco error) :-)
