ooops: Casey, mentioning that "Philly Freedom" was the oldest song on the chart, said it had been in the 40 "3 months -- 16 weeks!" Uh, that would make 4 months, Casey. Math is hard!

Noticed that as well. To get precise, three months=13 weeks. One quarter of a year (52 weeks). So 16 week is about a week (plus a few days) shy of four months.

That Charlie Rich song gets me every time. That pedal steel guitar and piano are flawless. Too bad it didn’t hit any higher than #19. Much better than his 1973 hits.

I've been listening to a Casey's Top 40 marathon, and of course, the chart runs became much longer once the chart changed in 1994, and started being counted as months, as opposed to weeks. "In its eighth month on the survey..." Oh, the things that took place during his Westwood One years, compared to how they were handled in the original era. Can you imagine a song staying in the top 40 for seventy-three weeks? That's how long "Calm Down" by Rema & Selena Gomez was in the 40, and dropped out a few weeks ago. Crazy. It's a good song!

Actually “Calm Down” was on CHR AT40 for 75 weeks, the all time record holder. (It was #1 for 3 weeks). The previous (Seacrest-era) record was set by Taio Cruz’ “Dynamite” which was on the countdown for 72 weeks in 2010-11.

I knew it had outlasted "Dynamite". Just a pretty remarkable run. Been listening to 1983 & 1984; 15-16 weeks was considered a long run then.

Has it happened since then?

Also happened for several weeks at the end of last year when the revolving Top 5 was made up of Doja Cat, Doechii, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Tate McRae, SZA and Nicki Minaj.
