Heart's "Dog and Butterfly" missed the AT40 reaches, I guess.

1972, the year of the instrumental…
With Whitburn’s tag on “Jungle Fever” by the Chakachas, there are three instrumentals on this week’s 1972 show. Dennis Coffey’s “Taurus” and “Joy” by Apollo 100 being the other two.
Altogether, I believe there were 7 or 8 Top 40 instrumentals in 1972. The most during the AT40 era? During the Rock era?

This week from Premiere’s AT40/The 70s… Of all of Elvis Presley’s singles presented during the AT40 years, only one spent just one week on Billboard’s Top 40 survey, “Until It’s Time For You To Go.” And its lone chart week – March 11, 1972 – is this week’s B show. If you include R&R, “A Little Less Conversation” was on for only 1 week in 2002.

I always think of '73 as the big instrumental year, as there was the #1 "Frankenstein" along with the #2s "Dueling Banjos" and "Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)".

Be that as it may, in 1979 there were 2 weeks in a row, this week's show and the previous week that the countdown kicked off with an instrumental(not counting the top 3 recap).
