With a first hour that includes an AT40 "one week wonder", albeit one of the better known ones from the 70s/80s, Meat Loaf's "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth" which makes its only countdown appearance at #39 (and was rather awkwardly edited).

Beat me to it. A pretty big chunk of meat got cut out of the loaf there...

And a 'boo!' to AT40 for not at least giving us a snippet of Herb Alpert's 'Dating Game' theme, aka 'Spanish Flea'.

Another fun fact about the first hour of 1/20/79: Casey answered a question about whether a hit song ever came from a TV game show, and the answer was yes, Herb Alpert's "Spanish Flea" from the "Dating Game", at least in its original run (1965-73). Later revivals of the show, including one that was on in 1979, didn't use "Spanish Flea".
One thing Casey didn't mention was that he himself was a contestant on the Dating Game in 1967, three years before AT40 started and five years before he first married.

I doubt if many country stations were playing Dolly's disco-fied "Baby I'm Burnin'". the flip, "I Really Got the Feeling", was the side that was #1 on the Country Singles chart this week in '79.

Listening to hour two of the '79 show and it began and ended with the Reverend Al Green. The first song of the hour was Take Me To The River recorded and co-written by Green. The hour ends with his #1 hit of '72 Let's Stay Together.

Did I forget to mention that this countdown will also be Supersized on WTOJ this weekend? Every bite of Meat Loaf is there for you to savor. Begins Sunday 9 AM Eastern.

I'll go with 1/24/76 over 1/26/74 & 1/29/77 for next weekend. 2017 is the only time 1/24/76 was aired by Premiere. The 1974 show last aired in 2016. 1/29/77 last aired in 2019.

Is this the first time that Premiere and Sirius are going with the exact same chart on the same day? Has Sirius announced the date of this weekend's show already? Nothing yet on the AT40 on XM thread. Sorry I misread Pete's thread where he first mentioned XM doing the 1970 countdown featured in January 1971, and mistakenly thought he was referring to XM doing 1-16-71. My apologies.

SXM hasn't announced this weekend'show yet, and while there's a first time for everything (recently they started airing guest hosted shows on the weekends without any special circumstances in play), SXM 7 doesn't usually duplicate Premiere's show so we can likely count out 1971 and 1979. Probably 1977 too as last night's "Wheel" was from that February.

Casey implies that "Baby I'm Burnin" was the song that was #1 on the country chart in his tease about it. No surprise that this was a double sided situation. They needed a song for pop radio and a another one for country radio. So Chicago has an 11 notch move for "No Tell Lover" after the first Hot Streets release "Alive Again" moved 19 notches, but they both stopped at #14. By contrast their biggest hit of the 70s "If You Leave Me Now" on its way to #1 never climbed more than 7 notches within the top 40.

Anyone have insight on which stations might air the '71 countdown?
