Bette Midler's remake of "Do You Want To Dance" was produced by Barry Manilow who was Midler's musical arranger at that time.

The 'censor' at the BBC had to be really obtuse to not recognize the sexual nature of "Hi Hi Hi"s lyrics. Not quite as blatant a dirty ol' man Chuck at #40, but pretty obvious nonetheless. "Yes, I go like a rabbit, gonna grab it, gonna do it 'til the night is done'.

I wanna say about 5 or 6 minutes was in that first hour. Aside from the one optional extra intro partially overdubbed by the Accuweather forecast, WTOJ successfully gets the show in before the next wave of the storm hits!

Spending a snowy weekend working on upcoming Supersized countdowns. It's a 1978 show so its full version is really long. 4 hour shows were WAY overdue at that time.

Music to my ears.... my unofficial record indicates everything thru 2/18 has already been aired Supersized and I think 2/25 was featured in 2023 as a "B" so I'll go with 3/4/78

Is it just me or are we 1978'd out? Yearend countdown which included roughly 1/2 of the songs from this week was just a little early IMO.

1978 likely can't be an A until at least February, as both 1/21 and 1/28 were played by themselves in the last two years. 2/25/78 is probably the only show from that month which is off limits this year as it was a B last year, and it can't be 3/11/78 as that was played by itself last year. After March the only 1978 standalones we got in 2023 were in June and November, plus the year end show, so I hope there are some more this year.
BTW, if 80s AT40s were supersized, then this week's show (1/17/87) would greatly benefit from that treatment.

Bette Midler's remake of "Do You Want To Dance" was produced by Barry Manilow who was Midler's musical arranger at that time. In addition, it was a hit in 1958 by Bobby Freeman and in 1965 by the Beach Boys.
