Wasn't even thinking of the Springsteen song with that same title from a decade later. Meant 5000 Volts' "I'm On Fire" from later in '75. but yes, the '80s "I'm On Fire" is becoming 'lost' as well. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Aerosmith was at their #36 peak with "Sweet Emotion", which went on to become one of the most-played Classic Rock tracks ever. If you'd told me that in '75 I would not have believed you. A few years ago, I was on vacay in NYC, listening to the local Classic Rocker (Q-104) and I swear I heard "Sweet Emotion" 8 times in 10 days! And in this week's Sirius XM show from a year later we heard "Last Child", a #21 hit that seems relatively overlooked among Aerosmith's hit catalog; of their first four top 40 hits ("Sweet Emotion", "Dream On", "Walk This Way" being the others) it's the only one that doesn't get endless classic rock/hits airplay, at least as I see it.

In my area "Last Child"does get some classic rock airplay, but not as much as the three you cite or the band's fourth top 40 single, the #38-peaking "Back In the Saddle Again". And there's a 'free-form', 'radio as hobby' station here that even plays the band's near-top 40 (#42) 1977 single, "Draw the Line".

As far as 1973 is concerned, you could make a strong case for waiting until the first or second weekend in August and going with 8/11/73. This show was last aired in any capacity in...2007! After Premiere's airing of 3/20/71 earlier this year, it would appear to be the the show that has spent the longest amount of time on the shelf (not counting 11/24/79 of course--just talking about shows that have been aired at least once before). It appears next week's show is from August 11, 1973, which last aired in 2007. The B show could be from August 11, 1979.

If that's the case, here's my prediction for the optional extras: Loves Me Like A Rock - Paul Simon With The Dixie Hummingbirds That Lady - The Isley Brothers We're An American Band - Grand Funk

I'll go with: "La Grange" "That Lady" "Loves Me Like A Rock" "La Grange" didn't chart until April '74 -- even in the case of a death (RIP Dusty Hill), would they play something that out-of-the-way?

"La Grange" is on ZZ Top's "Tres Hombres" album, released in July 1973 (as per Wikipedia) and is still well known today, so yes it could work as a tribute to Dusty even if the 45 didn't chart until almost a year later.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 8/11/73 is the very last show that was previously aired before Larry Morgan took over. EDIT: In answering my own question, it is not in fact the last remaining show that hasn't yet been aired since Larry took over in July 2009. Here is a list of those shows still yet to be introduced by Mr. Morgan: 11/14/70 (2008) 5/1/71 (2007!) 9/2/72 (2008) 9/16/72 (2007) 10/14/72 (2008 - apparently the latter half of 1972 hasn't been Premiere's favorite stretch in the show's run) 11/17/73 (2008) 1/5/74 (2009) 11/20/76 (2007) 11/24/79 (only show not yet aired at all) Note that 6/18/77 sort of fits on this list as well. It aired just six weeks ago, but as a 'B' show. It hasn't been offered as an 'A' show since 2009.

The "A" show is indeed 8/11/1973. The optional extras are:
Hour #1: "Rocky Mountain Way" - Joe Walsh Hour #2: "That Lady (Part 1)" - The Isley Brothers Hour #3: "Stoned Out Of My Mind" - The Chi-Lites
The "B" show is 8/4/1979. The optional extras are:
Hour #1: "Don't Bring Me Down" - Electric Light Orchestra Hour #2: "Angie Baby" - Helen Reddy (original AT40 archive extra) Hour #3: "Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)" - Robert Palmer Hour #4: "Cruel To Be Kind" - Nick Lowe
It's the same set of extras as last time but the order has been changed. Nick Lowe was at Hour 1, ELO was at Hour 2, Helen Reddy was at Hour 4. Robert Palmer remains at Hour 3.

The question is, will any stations be playing the full, four-hour show?

The question is, will any stations be playing the full, four-hour show? WSQL usually plays A shows,so they are more than likely a no go on '79.

The question is, will any stations be playing the full, four-hour show? WPNC, maybe? KOKZ also often, but not always, chooses the later 70s show. (nope, KOKZ chose 1973)

The question is, will any stations be playing the full, four-hour show? WPAC should play it Saturday morning & Sunday afternoon.
