Speaking of "Daisy Jane","Let's Wait Awhile" by Janet Jackson has an opening similar to that song. "Similar to" is putting it kindly. I say "stolen from". I always wondered if there was a lawsuit. Turns out Gerry Beckley reached an out-of-court settlement with Jam & Lewis. And 14 years later, Janet sampled "Ventura Highway" on her hit "Someone to Call My Lover", resulting in a payday for another America member, Dewey Bunnell.

A minute and a half of "Daisy Jane", the final extra! Seriously, why even bother? That’s actually a good thing. The more they take out of the optional songs, the more they leave alone in the original show which is what most of us want to hear in the first place. Remember, all syndicated radio shows have to stay within their time parameters.

Odd that Casey did the 3 Dog Night "18 Top 20s in a row" story this week -- they were 2 weeks away from charting with their final Top 40 hit, "Till the World Ends". And when he did the "Australians hitting #1" question he mentions that Olivia Newton-John was "working on her 3rd" (she was at #4 with "Please Mr Please") but doesn't mention that the BeeGees were working on their 2nd (they were at #7 with "Jive Talkin").

Noticed both of those as well. He 'jinxed' ONJ but not the Brothers Gibb.

Wow!-No Cologuard ads this week-That's great since they're annoying to begin with.

Listening to the '76 show on Sirius-XM right now. Interesting this week to be able to hear and compare three consecutive end-of-July shows: 1975, 76, and 77.

I can understand why "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" got edited-It clocks in at over six minutes.

I can understand why "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" got edited-It clocks in at over six minutes. It actually uns practically seven minutes - 6:45 to be exact. At around the 3:34 point in the song, when Elton is singing "fly away, high away" in the second chorus is where they cut it to 5:28, when he sings "bye-bye" in the final chorus, so that would cut the song down to 4:51 right there. Still a bit long, but I believe that they faded out the song well before the end as well.

That song was "Don't Cha Love It', which debuted on 12/21/74 and reached #75 during it's four-week chart run. Of course, just 3 months after this show (on 10/25/75) the group would return to the Hot 100 with one more chart single, that would become their second and final #1: "Love Machine".

Best part of the song, IMO.

Indeed it is! Pretty much the only songs from the Born In The USA album that radio plays anymore are the title track and "Dancing In The Dark" and "Glory Days". Wasn't even thinking of the Springsteen song with that same title from a decade later. Meant 5000 Volts' "I'm On Fire" from later in '75. but yes, the '80s "I'm On Fire" is becoming 'lost' as well. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Aerosmith was at their #36 peak with "Sweet Emotion", which went on to become one of the most-played Classic Rock tracks ever. If you'd told me that in '75 I would not have believed you. A few years ago, I was on vacay in NYC, listening to the local Classic Rocker (Q-104) and I swear I heard "Sweet Emotion" 8 times in 10 days!
