That July 4th 1970 show might now be able to have the Bill Cosby extra reinstated (although I doubt it ) as he's just about to be freed after his conviction was overturned !!!!! Cosby wasn't in the Sirius XM replay of that show this evening. It was the only one of the four original extras (all from the 1960s) that was deleted.

So the next time Premiere airs a late June 1979 or July 1979 AT40 show as an A show option and the first 7/4/1970 gets played as a B show option, would that Bill Cosby "Little Old Man" extra get reinstated as an OPTIONAL EXTRA, or could it even be an OPTIONAL EXTRA next time Premiere airs a 1970 AT40: The 70's entry?

We'll have to wait and see, but I doubt Premiere is in any hurry to get any extras by Bill Cosby on the air.

50 years ago today, we lost one of the greatest frontmen in Rock n' Roll History-Jim Morrison of The Doors. I'll be listening to my Doors records and this week's 1977 show.

How many times has Casey told the story of Thomas Edison's "Mary Had a Little Lamb" recording on AT40, including 7/9/1977?

I found it quite interesting that when "Riders On the Storm" debuted on AT40 a few weeks later, Casey didn't make a big deal of Morrison's death. He just mentioned it matter-of-factly. Such a contrast to the times when the show devoted a whole segment to the passing of various people of note (like Jackie Wilson, Elvis, and John Lennon.)

"Barracuda" by Heart was one of the featured songs on the countdown from 7/9/77-During the 2008 presidential election,Sarah Palin & John Mc Cain had the song played at their campaign rallies-However,Anne & Nancy Wilson got wind of this & immediately issued a cease & desist order.

This week's 1977 show features a song that requires no editing in Crosby, Stills, and Nash's "Just A Song Before I Go" which is barely 2 minutes long. The flip side to that song was featured on one of the MERC shows that I heard a while back, a song called "Dark Star". I've heard that song from time to time over the years. I've always thought that they were singing "Drug Store".

My guess for next weekend's AT40: The 70's show for the July 10-11, 2021 weekend: July 10, 1971 (A show - B show could be July 10, 1976).

Got KOZI going with the VLC player right now recording with Audacity -- stream sounds decent. I think it started on time? Maybe a few minutes late at the most. How do you get Audacity to record the stream? The couple times I've used it, it records off of the speakers which is much lower quality. I missed this post back in May, so sorry for the long delay. There is a setting called "Audio Host" -- an unlabeled drop-down menu typically to the left of the drop-down menus for speaker and microphone selections. If you set that to "Windows WASAPI" (don't ask me what that acronym means), it will loop the audio from output to the recording input internally (as if it couples the speaker output to the mic input internally). It essentially records the stream as it sounds from the source without any noise, etc. added. Another way to do it is to run an audio cable from the speaker out to the mic in or line in, but that introduces another element and possible point of failure.
