I am wondering why Premiere didn't go with 5-14-77, which is closer to the date of 5-11-24. Probably just to air out the show... 5/7/1977 hasn't been played in ten years (it's only airing), while 5/14/1977 has been played 4 times over the years (the last time 3 years ago as an A).

'B' shows don't always follow the dates as closely as the 'A' shows. It will be good to hear 5/7/77 again, which is a great show IMHO -- the one week at #1 for "Hotel California". FYI - all extras remain the same for both shows as the 2014 airings.

Funny thing, I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing 5/7/1977.

Matt, I cannot tell you how often I rely on your Listing of the 70's and 80's to look up selections of years last played, as well as how long ago a certain year was played this year. Thanks so much for keeping this so valuable to me for the last 17 years--so appreciated!

More like 13 years. The only reason I would post about that is because he joined this board just 4 days before I joined it in 2011. Interesting how there are still some shows that have not aired in that time frame though we just heard one that came off that list...5/3/75 IIRC.

I only do the 70's series (dukelighting is correct -- I joined in 2011 and took over the 70's list when the guy that started it stopped posting on this site a while back). Hervard has kept the 80's list for as long as I can remember.

Listening to 5/12/73 on WSQL-There's a boatload of forgotten favorites such as "Let's Pretend","No More Mr.Nice Guy","Right Place Wrong Time","Playground In My Mind" & "Hocus Pocus".

Would that sore thumb song be "Playground In My Mind"?

Casey makes a mistake about the Carpenters and I know how it happened. Said they had 3 hits which missed the top 10 since "Close to You". Pete has posted the stat sheets previously and I remember that those sheets broke down an artist's hits by #1, top 10, top 40 and chart hits. That sheet would have showed 3 hits which missed the top 10. Except after talking about one of those, "Ticket to Ride", Casey said they had 3 more that missed the top 10 after "Close to You". Well they are already down to 2 at that point and one of those, "Bless the Beasts and Children" is actually the B side of "Superstar" making it a double sided hit. So that cannot count since it is a double sided hit and can only count once and as a top 10 at that. It leaves just one that missed the top 10 and it's "It's Going to Take Some Time This Time". On the 80s show this week, Casey says that the top 6 soul songs are on the show. It comes as no surprise to me that more than that are in this show. It's the top 8 soul songs that are in this show. I would not be surprised if the record for that type of thing happened in 1973 seeing as how soul hits were prevalent that year. As a comparison, on the last 1973 show from March, the top 9 soul hits were in the show. And it was 3 notches away from being the top 10 since the #10 soul hit "Step by Step" was at 43 on the Hot 100.

Would that sore thumb song be "Playground In My Mind"? Yeah, that's the one stinkin' up the list, with four other good songs.

I'll go with 5/15/76 over 5/22/71 for next weekend. The only time the 5/15/76 show aired was in 2017. 5/22/71 only airing was in 2014.
